Sorry bit of a long post
Many years ago, I was subjected to being thrown around the back of a fire appliance during a rollover. Ever since, I’ve had issues on and off with my hip. It recently got to the point where I was in daily pain, so I finally went to the doctor and jumped through all the usual hoops.
The NHS initially threatened me with a total hip replacement, but then changed their minds and essentially told me to "come back in 5 years if it still hurts.
Cue The Firefighters Charity stepping in and picking up my case. I was given a weeks residential physio programme at Marine Court alongside 10 other current and retired firefighters. Honestly, the team there has worked absolute wonders.
On our final evening, we had a bingo and raffle night. Where I donated one my belts albeit in paper form after much competition the belt was won by a retired Divisional officer who was enjoying a holiday at the center with his family, I I may have had one too many beers, or memory isn’t as good as it used to be the raffle raised around £180.
I made the belt this afternoon and is now on its way to the DO
A massive thank you to everyone at Marine Court and The Fire Fighters Charity, also those on the course with me, it was like being on station with the banter and laughter.
If you are ever in a position to support the charity please do.
