We had a great time at Vobster Quay yesterday, in the sunshine with a few of our club members who completed their Accelerated Decompression (ADP) Course with one of our club instructors.

Lots of skills over two dives and now they're all ready to extend their dive time on some of our club trips.

Congratulations to our club members who qualified and as always a big thank you to our BSAC - British Sub-Aqua Club volunteer instructors who give up their time for free.

Already a qualified diver? Fancy joining an active club with our club instructors in North Wiltshire? Fed up with paying £££s for courses and air fills?

We had a great couple of days running some in-house training for our club members. The first day of the BSAC - British Sub-Aqua Club Chart Positioning Course was all theory and planning at our club house in Swindon, then we took one of our two boats down to Portland in Dorset as we ran the second day out on the water.

All of our members did great work locating their wrecks with their passage plans and they also got a bit of boat handling experience in as well testing out the clubs new GPS unit.

We also had a surface visit over the Spaniard wreck in the harbour from the resident Grey Seal who popped up for a quick hello!

A big congratulations to our club members who took part in the course. If you're looking for a club and interested in learning all about diving in the UK from a RHIB, get in touch! We can run all of the BSAC boat courses in-house with our two boats right up to Diver Coxswain.

The Swindon Sub-Aqua Club would like to say a big thank you to Peta Knott from the Nautical Archaeology Society who came along to our club night on Wednesday to give a talk on "Getting involved with NAS: A new citizen science project WRECKognising Pollution"

A great talk and a chance to practice mapping out a wreck.

We've had a couple of busy weeks at the club! Last week we welcomed into our on-site pool for a Try Dive, a group of Foster Dads from Swindon.

The group had a chance to try Scuba Diving for the very first time as we continue to offer out our try dive sessions to charities and local groups around Swindon at a reduced cost due to our Sport England The National Lottery grant.

Thank you to all of our volunteer instructors who gave up their time to run the session. Thank you to Sport England and to everyone who plays National Lottery games for your support!

We're opening up our club once again for a free talk!

Getting involved with NAS: a new citizen science project WRECKognising Pollution

Wednesday 13th May

Doors open at 7pm - Talk starts at 7:30pm

Are you looking for opportunities to dive-with-a-purpose? Do you want to ensure that you have interesting places to dive and safe waters to dive in?

Come to this hour long talk by underwater archaeologist Peta Knott who will outline the many and varied ways that you can get involved with the Nautical Archaeology Society (NAS) above and below the waves.

There will be a particular focus on the NAS's new citizen science project WRECKognising Pollution where anyone can get involved with raising awareness of historic polluting wrecks and can be proactive in preventing them ruining the underwater environment.

The NAS is all about getting involved, and this engaging talk will be no exception. There will be a fake wreck to view and real artefacts to handle - just a little taster of some of the training and activities that you might like to get involved with through NAS.

So we can manage numbers, please contact us to book a space via Facebook, or email, the evening is free. Refreshments available.
