A busy start of the year in our new workshop! Some of the jobs completed over the past few weeks include:

- Top ball joint, fuel pump repair, service and MOT on a Spitfire 1500.
- Drivehsaft oil seal replacement, and service on a MG 1300.
- IRS removal and fitment on a Jaguar Xjs, including rear brake rebuild (mobile job);
- Carburettor rebuild (using our new ultrasonic cleaner) on a Lancia Fulvia Coupe.
- Gearbox remote rebuild on a GT6 Mk3.

One of the benefits of being a classic car mechanic, is that you get to work on a variety of different vehicles.. This particular session involved a Reliant Robin. The owner felt the engine was quite noisy and didn't pull well from low rpm's.

The valve clearences required setting; the carburettor adjusting; and ignition CB Points gapping. While under the bonnet, I noticed the heater hoses were cracking; so these hoses were replaced to prevent any future failure. It also benefited from a full service at the same time.

The owner of this superb Mini Van called me out due to the vehicle not wanting to start when cold. I quickly diagnosed that the issue was with the choke mechanism sticking, and not allowing the jets (twin carb conversion), to lower. The jets and fast idle cams recieved a good 'grease-up', and fast idle speed set at the same time (was way too high). Thanks.

Steering rack and alternator replacement on Robin Walker's fabulous Triumph Stag, carried out recently at his home.

Last week I had the fortunate opertunity to install an electric fan and relay control unit; and replace the exhaust manifold gaskets on Sam/Simon Pownall's beautiful (take a deep breath), 1958 Rolls-Royce Silver Wraith Hooper Empress Touring Limousine! 1 of of only 6 made!

Austin-Healey Sprite: Poor running was traced down to extremely worn throttle spindles on the twin SU H1 carb's, and incorrectly adjusted valve clearences. Carbs rebuilt at the customers home, and full service carried out. Now running well again.
