Dear all tournament players

Thank you for signing up to the LYC doubles tournament on Sunday 20th November.

It is now less than 2 weeks away and this email provides information about the day

Firstly we have split the day into two different sessions

If you registered in the C+ or B category, your session will start at 10am and finish by 2pm

If you registered in the B+ or A category your session will start at 2pm and finish by 6pm.

Please therefore arrive before 10am or before 2pm depending on which category you entered and register your attendance at the welcome desk. Latecomers may have to forfeit a game so please be on time.

For each category (C+, B, B+ and A) we have a maximum of 12 pairs. We have split each category into two groups. In the first round, each pair will play a round robin of all other pairs in their group. (You will only play against other pairs in the same category for the entire tournament)

Depending on time, the second round will either be another round robin or a knock out stage.

There will be no setting in the first round and therefore the pair that reaches 21 wins the game (even if the score is 21-20)

Due to the light situation in the hall, we suggest you swap sides at 11 points.

A few snacks will be provided but it is recommended you bring your own food and drink for the 4 hours that you could play.

For the first round robin stage, you will be told the other pairings in your group on the day of the tournament.

If you or your partner are unable to attend the tournament, please let us know immediately so that we can help you find a replacement.

Great news!

Following requests from many of you, we are delighted to announce a new mid-week evening badminton session (in addition to the regular Sunday slot)

When: Wednesdays ‪from 8pm to 10pm‬ ‪from September 1‬ onwards on 3 courts

Where: Britannia Leisure Centre, ‪40 Hyde Road‬, Hackney, London – N1 5JU (nearest overground is Haggerston and nearest tube is Old street)

Who: levels C+ and above

How: prebooking required; limit to 24 players. Please use the usual booking link below to the Azolve/Badminton England website

What: Regular doubles Badminton

Cost: £7 for members; £2 extra for non-members
