Our brand new 90 minute Intro to Pilates Reformer & Tower Beginner workshop is now available to book for the 11th June at 6-7.30pm.
Only 4 spaces available so more of it’s more of a semi-private experience rather than a large group class.
In this workshop we will introduce you to the Pilates Reformer and also its lesser known companion the Pilates Tower. You will learn how to set up and use the apparatus safely, what does what essentially and how to get the most out of your sessions. We will introduce you to some of the basic principles and foundation exercises in the Pilates repertoire so you can then take that knowledge into regular classes. It’s a perfect grounding to give you the confidence to join us in our small group sessions.
You will feel leaving much more connected with your body, more flexible, mobile, strong and hopefully with a desire to learn more.
We are a fully equipped small village studio that specialises in helping people to move well and feel good in their own bodies. We have been teaching Pilates as a system for over 17 years and are experienced with working with people with a variety of health conditions. If you are considering booking the workshop and you do have a health concern or injury then please reach out to us in advance before booking so we can assess wether the workshop would be suitable (a 1:1 may be more appropriate)

There is a huge difference in what is being taught in ‘Reformer Studios’ and what is being taught in fully equipped Pilates studios like ours.
The Reformer is only one piece of apparatus of the method and has been completely taken out of context by the fitness industry recently. What we see now being taught in many places is fitness on a Reformer not Pilates. Many qualifications are of a poor quality, some can be completed fully online and over a weekend and this is a big issue for the safety of clients and the integrity of the method. Couple that with the explosion of sale of cheap equipment and increased numbers in classes, it really is worrying.
Those of you that know us know that we are fully committed to learning and understanding more about the Pilates method and the human body. It’s 17 years since we took our first Pilates qualification, and 13 years of owning and running studio’s. We are fully certified and trained in all of the Pilates apparatus through STOTT Pilates as well undertaking training with other classical pilates teachers. We have invested thousands of pounds and hours of study and further education to ensure our understanding grows and what we teach is safe and effective. That will never end.
Please choose wisely when choosing your studio especially if you have injuries, back pain or have specific conditions that you want help with. Ask your teacher or studio owner about their qualifications, they will delight in telling you if they are well qualified. Seek out a place that helps you to feel and move better so you can do the things in life you want to do.
Pilates when taught well is a beautifully intuitive method of exercise that gives so many benefits physically and mentally. It’s not about instagram aesthetics or following new trends it’s about longevity and feeling good in your own body for as long as you can.

…’Movement matters more as we age’
A nice article here and some recommendations on how to get started with Pilates.
1. Consider booking a private session
first
2. Look for small group classes
3. Ask about the instructors experience
4. Prioritise function over perfection
5. Give it time..consistency is key
Why more women are starting Pilates in their 60s
The functional workout can improve everything from posture and balance to confidence and mood, especially in midlife and beyond.
