Fab toddler tumble class this morning!
The heat didn’t stop training Saturday morning. Instead we took the opportunity to have the kids swap Gi for Nogi.
After learning some technique, they drilled it with a partner before putting their skills to the test in live sparring.
What looks like play is actually developing:
- Balance and coordination
- Problem solving under pressure
- Confidence and resilience
- Respect for training partners
The best part? The smiles didn’t disappear.
Great effort from everyone on the mats today.

Good work from everyone tonight! Some finishing their weeks strong, others back for more tomorrow!
Games aren’t just for kids.
In Wednesday night Judo, we used ‘tiger tails’ to warm-up.
Movement, gripping, reactions, awareness, timing and a healthy bit of competition.
Developing skills whilst having a laugh.
Some might think this is a modern approach, but Toni Gough was writing about judo games back in 1977.
Good coaching has always looked a bit like this.
The best BJJ white belt hack is to learn Judo!
One judo movement - 2 BJJ problems solved.
That’s the beauty of BJJ — principles over memorising endless techniques.
Different sitaution, different reactions. Same finish!

Level up for some of our teens last night!
Huge congratulations to Louis, who came to us as a grey and white belt when we first opened, having had a break from Jiu Jitsu, and has made some great progress over the past 10months and has earned a well deserved solid grey belt! He trains BJJ a couple of times a week, as well as Judo and rugby.
Well done to Hassan and Subhan on their stripes. They also train both BJJ and Judo and their hard work is showing in the progress they’ve made.
Well done lads! 👏 👏 👏
Throw. Fall. Laugh. Repeat.
Repetition isn’t boring, it’s how confidence is built.
Every drill helps develop:
✅ Coordination
✅ Balance
✅ Focus
✅ Resilience
✅ Social confidence
And when learning feels like fun, kids keep coming back for more. That’s where real progress happens.
A hundred little reps today become real skill, confidence, and character later on.
Plus… flying through the air safely is objectively awesome. 😅
6.30am - just people getting better before most alarms even go off.
Some are competitors, some are parents/grand parents, some are students.
All have different motivations, but everyone shows up with the same goal — improve a little every session.
No-gi Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (BJJ) at 6.30am hits different. Quiet room. Solid technique. Good people. A great way to start the day!
If you’ve been thinking about starting, this is your sign. You do not need to be fit. You just need to start.
