After 2 remarkable seasons, captain Danny Fleming has decided to step down as captain of Warrington's 1st team. Over these 2 years Captain Dan has had unprecedented success, leading the team to 2 promotions and lifting 2 Lancashire trophies.
We asked Danny about the journey.
"It's been a massive honour to captain my hometown club over the last two years and step out on the pitch with this group of lads. The success we've had along the way is something we'll all look back on with pride.
Seeing the senior section thriving again is fantastic and what Warrington is about. There's a real buzz around the open age teams and the club in general, and people are enjoying being part of it again. We've got a great group of players, coaches, volunteers and supporters, and it's exciting to see where the club can go next."
Head coach Richard Park spoke about Danny's role.
"Danny's a great bloke and has a fantastic way of making people new to the group feel welcome, whether that be new Colts or new coaches coming into the side. He's ferocious in his preparation and maintaining standards in training, his effort areas in the game are immense. He's the type of player that leads by example and will still be a key member of the leadership 1st team group going forward."
Everyone at the club thanks Danny for his time and commitment as captain and look forward to seeing his epic carries and work-rate continue next season.
