A recent study was looking to identify risk factors for injuries in a cohort of adolescent athletes and to determine the relative contributions of each factor to the risk of injury.
Risk factors studied included: the number of sports played; time spent participating in sports through school and private club teams; participation in strength training; use of a personal coach for training outside of school; average amount of sleep per night; and subjective assessment of enjoyment in sports.

It was found that chronic lack of sleep is associated with increased risk of injuries in adolescent athletes.
Encouraging young athletes to get optimal amounts of sleep may help protect them against athletic injuries.

Say no more... Many people will often not know where to start when it comes to getting themselves a personal trainer/coach. I’ve seen this first hand and it’s hard to watch... people trusting and investing in someone who in reality has no idea what they’re doing!

My advice? Read below...
⠀⠀⠀
1️⃣ Do your research ➡️ Not all ‘PTs’ or coaches are equal. Know what qualifications and experience they have. Still unsure after that? Message them, talk to them, arrange to meet them. Trusting your trainer is a massive part of your journey.
2️⃣ Ask questions ➡️ get yourself a consultation and go through the goals/aims you want... unsure about something? Want to know why they’re doing certain things? ASK! Your trainer is there to educate you not just dictate to you.
3️⃣ Test the waters ➡️ ask for a trial session or pay for a one off session. If you’re unsure this will help make your mind up before you spend £££ on the wrong trainer.

‼️ Be careful who you invest your time, money and health in... just because they have a large social media following are in good shape themselves doesn’t automatically make them good trainers/coaches 👀

🚫 CORE ANTI-ROTATION 🔁

Rotational exercises are by far the most poorly executed I see in the gym... give these 3 exercises a go making sure you focus on the following:
⠀⠀⠀
- Hips stay FIXED throughout - only core/torso rotates ✅
- Arms fully extended & use full range of motion ✅
- Actively engage your core ✅
- Keep control throughout movements ✅
⠀⠀⠀
Perform 8-12 reps on each side, for each exercise. Repeat for 1-3 rounds... This WILL burn up your core... PROPERLY 🔥🔥🔥

💡 Being clever in the way you train core will help you to produce the results you‘re after, both in terms of aesthetics and performance - meaning you’ll be functionally stronger and looking better! 💡
