A1 started in 2021 with a pretty simple idea - that training with a group of people who are rooting for you is more powerful than anything you can do alone.

Five years on, the thing we’re proudest of isn’t the sessions or the results, though those matter a lot.

It’s the fact that people stick around after class to chat. That they message each other outside of sessions. That they show up for each other on the hard weeks.

🥾 June Community Walk 🌿

A fantastic morning yesterday, spent exploring the Beacon Country Park and Gathurst Circular route together.

Great company, plenty of fresh air, and some well earned refreshments to round off the day at The Fox, Roby Mill. ☕🍻

There will be sessions where the motivation isn’t there, where everything else feels heavy and the last thing you want to do is move.

Those are the ones that matter most - not because of what happens physically, but because of what it tells you about yourself when you go anyway.

It gets easier to do that when you have a room full of people doing the same thing, and a coach who’s genuinely glad you walked through the door.

That’s what A1 is built around.

This morning we joined the great outdoors, for a walk around the Beacon Country Park and Gathurst Circular route.

A great day out, finished off with drinks 🍻 ☕️

There is nothing wrong with training solo.

But there is a reason so many people in their 40s find that a class environment changes everything.

👉When the session is programmed and coached, you never waste time wondering what to do.

👉 When there is a group alongside you, you work harder than you would on your own.

👉 When the coaches know your name and notice when you are not there, showing up becomes easier.

👉 And when the people around you become part of your week, it stops feeling like exercise and starts feeling like something you actually want.

A great morning spent with our coaching team yesterday, focused on one thing: becoming better coaches so we can give our members the very best experience possible.

We covered everything from what makes a great coach, refining technique on key movements, supporting beginners, keeping long-term members motivated, and ensuring consistency across our coaching and systems.

Most importantly, we shared ideas, experiences, and ways we can continue learning from and supporting each other.

The best teams never stop improving, and today was all about raising standards together, developing our skills, and strengthening the environment we create for every member who walks through our doors.

Proud to be building a team that genuinely cares about growth, accountability, and helping people become the best version of themselves. 💪

Hannah joined our 8 week starter program last October.

Hannah said:
“I was nervous about starting but liked the idea of the small group sessions and wanted to work on my strength. I’ve now been a full time member since December, and attend 4-5 sessions per week. The gym is full of friendly people and supportive coaches who all make you feel welcome whatever your ability is.”

We get asked a lot what our classes involve, so here’s a proper look.

Every session at A1 is coach-led and designed to work for all fitness levels - whether you’re coming back to exercise after a break or you’ve been training for years.

The group moves together, the coach adapts to where you are, and nobody gets left to figure it out alone.

At A1 we run three types of group session, each one coach-led and suitable for all fitness levels.

Strength and Conditioning runs Monday to Thursday, combining strength work, cardio and functional movement to help you get fitter and stronger.

Friday is HIIT - a high intensity session designed to push you and leave you feeling like you’ve really done something.

Saturday is Strength and Endurance, a brilliant option for those who want to build lasting fitness at a slightly different pace.

Tuesday and Thursday evenings also include a dedicated Beginners class at 18:30, which is a great way to start if you’re new to group training.

Sunday is Cardio, where we perform different full body exercises and focus on raising your heart rate, to improve the heart and lung function, and overall fitness.

Classes run throughout the day.
