The Movement Guy

I believe that every single person has an untapped potential and purpose in this world and are capable of than far more than they realise and I believe that it all starts with a healthy, nourished body

On a daily basis I am privileged enough to work with a wide variety of people of all ages and ability's and help realise just how strong and capable they really are using a variety of different training styles i.e. pure strength, interval conditioning, yoga, strongman style, H.I.I.T, body-building and basic bodyweight conditioning

I don't believe one style is better than the other and that in order to reach your full potential as a human being and athlete you need a hybridization of it all

Now as for diet, nutrition etc. again I believe in a simple almost 'primitive' approach of good nutritious food and an eating protocol similar to our ancestors and everyone who has tried it has experienced reduced or complete lack of cravings, reduced body fat, improved energy, food and mood and subsequent improvements in the rest of their lives.

has started sending me little updates after our sessions to show me how she's applying the work we're doing to the rest of her rehab - she's absolutely smashing it

She was told she'd not be able to move from the neck down, now she's learning to stand

This stuff is so amazing, so fun, so rewarding and, it's addictive

If you're out there struggling or know someone who is, get in touch or you can pop down to the and talk to myself and the about our REBUILD package which is how Louise got started

We're there 10-4 today (Sat) for the Hubs open day so you can come and pick our brains and check out all the amazing recovery kit the Hub has to offer too

Neuro rehab is a delicate process. We're essentially rewiring Dan's movement map which involves the collaboration of multiple systems taking in information and a boat load of energy - there's a reason babies need all that energy when they're building their map

Every twist, every contraction, every change of position requires a huge chunk of neural energy, even this extra little twist on the curl

We're painting a biomechanical picture, one activation at a time

I'll be at open day tomorrow (Bury) if anyone wants to pop down and pick my brains about pain, injury, movement etc

You can also check out all the recovery kit,

Hyperbaric chamber
Red light Bed
PEMF mat
Hydrogen inhalation
Altitude trainer
Cryo chamber
Normatec
Cold plunge
Sauna

Blood tests will be available on the day too and there'll be free taster sessions available on the red light bed, Pemf mat and in body scanner as well as Muscle Scrapping tasters

It's an amazing place with everything you need to upgrade your health and recovery

When my back was really bad I would do all these drills that involved tucking my pelvis in, rocking it back and forth, holding, breathing, squeezing, desperately trying to find the 'off' button for the tension I felt daily

I'd use bands, balls, GHDs, benches, back extensions, reverse hypers and all manner of dodgy looking movements, but that tension, that 'bite' every time I moved my back/pelvis never went away

The problem was I was trying to get better the same way I got sick, using the same minimalist patterns I'd been overloading for years

The pelvis is a complex series of multiple joints, multiple tissues, tendons, ligaments, muscles, fascia, all of which help it to drive movement throughout the body

Switching between anterior and posterior is a tiny portion of its movement potential, which is why so many people who train end up with back issues, hip issues, knee issues, the list goes on

That's the point of movements like this, to reintroduce that 3D capacity and restore balance to your movement Hub

A few years back I decided to stop coaching and just focus on treating people and giving out bits of rehab, I was lost in it all

I was managing multiple Injuries, I was in constant pain and I'd lost all confidence in movement, I just didn't feel like me anymore

I was seeing the same things in everyone I treated too, no matter what training they did, so I was struggling to find a way forward, at least within the confines of the fitness realm

That's when the experiment began and how I found my love for coaching again and it feels just as good as it nearly 12 years ago

I think we've got so much wrong when it comes to Rehabilitation and training, our movement lens is distorted, our model of anatomy is flawed and we barely understand the systems within the body that make movement possible

I'm just a curious meathead in the North of England and look at the opportunities I'm finding, look at how many people I'm connecting with who were told they never would, who now are, which, begs the question, how many more?

How many more are doing things that our current model deemed impossible, how many more are doing things that we can't explain, how many more are trapped in their bodies because of the stifling effect of the evidence based model that would have us arguing for 20 years to accept things that we're seeing in real time?

I have no idea where all this is going and it's still very much in its infancy but this experiment shall continue

I'm always looking for ways to make movements easier to learn and help people learn where to put their weight as they move - improving their gait mechanics

Adding the dumbbells to this one, while adding a layer of complexity and new forces to manage, helps to line up that head over foot position and syncs up the upper/lower body

Dumbbells are such an underated movement/mobility tool, but I've been favouring them over kettlebells more and more

They're easy to use/learn, most people have some and they're a lot easing to incorporate into more flowy rhythmic drills

I'm currently playing around with a few different drills like this one that I want to turn into a little series/flow
