Huge thank you to Gaile from The Puncheon Pub Whitehaven for her excellent hospitality on Monday night after our game against West Cumbria Masters

Here Jayden Blair is being presented Ch*****ne Moment by Captain Jay Symonds who also sponsored the award himself the ch*****ne was kindly provided by Gaile, Jayden was awarded Ch*****ne moment for his hat trick but most importantly for getting sent an absolute belter by 84 year old Paul Charlton 😂, if there was a definition of "still got it" Paul would definitely be it as we found on Monday

WORKINGTON STORM 24-16 WEST CUMBRIA MASTERS

A win for Storm at the Recreation Ground Stadium from 3 trys down!

Before I talk about the match report we first and foremost have to say our thanks to West Cumbria Masters who worked really hard with the low numbers they had to make sure this game went ahead, they could've easily knocked it on the head but they accommodated us and gave us a brilliant game, so we'd like to thank all who provided the fixture for our lads.

We started off a bit slow defence wise and soon found ourselves 3 trys down near the end of the first quarter, but we played well on the ball, stuck in, and soon found ourselves back in the game when Jayden Blair intercepted a pass before running a good distance to get our first try on the scoresheet, the half ended 12-4 but we again found ourselves 3 trys down early in the second quarter, this was also a slow quarter for us but we dug deep to keep the Masters out and eventually right on the stroke of half time Jayden Blair was in again in the corner after a brilliant dummy from Ryan Wood drawn his man in leaving Blair exposed on the wing to touch down for 16-8 half time.

The 2 last quarters is when we really picked things up and is what I belive to be the best rugby we've ever played as a team, we dominated the 3rd quarter as Ryan Wood bursted the line to bring us within 1 try, the defence was outstanding we were patient and waited for our moment and eventually it came when Luke Hewitson was away down the right wing for his 9th try of the season to equalise for Storm after being 3 trys down,

This brought the momentum with us for the final quarter but we still had to work hard to keep the Masters out, again we played patiently whilst also playing our own rugby and the time came when Callum Williams picked up a great ball from Kacper Wychowaniec and overlapped into the space around the Masters winger and Centre before running a long distance to get over the try line and put us in front for the first time of the fixture, after this try the Masters were up for it more than ever in this game and for the last 10 minutes we had to defend set after set on our own try line due to set restarts for offside, knock ons in possession and failed interceptions giving back possession on our own ten, but somehow we held out and played the best defence we've seen since we started the club, with 3 minutes left we finally got our hands on the ball again and played patiently just leading the ball up the Middles, but of course Kacper likes to be risky 😂 and decided to start throwing the ball about with everyone shouting of him to just keep hold before throwing a belter of a pass to Blair who bursted through a game and went on to score to complete his hat trick at the Recre, this saw us off to Full Time with a full time result of Workington Storm 24-16 West Cumbria Masters

Autism Support Allerdale and Copeland backed and supported the club back when not many people knew us and share the same message as us, a very deserved award for everything they do in the area and the hard work they put in to providing support for the people who need it we are so proud to be sponsored by this amazing charity 💜⚡️

Vulnerable Post Incoming 🥹 Possible Trigger Warning ⚠️

Yesterday after a really quiet Table Top Sale - I know a feeling of being disheartened had crept through some of the team.

So many hours had been put into it..setting it up,promoting it and then a team sitting there all day..to pretty much tumble weeds.

We chatted and reminded ourselves that a measure of success for us wasn't in the footfall that day or the amount of likes on a FB post...

It was in the 12 year its gone from strength to strength.

It was in the fact that we take people at their lowest, sometimes suicidal, lonely and give them not only a place to belong but help cultivate a path for how to move forward.

Children all the way upto Grannies - all navigating neurodiversity themselves or within their family.

After a long day Shirley Murphy and a couple of the team went to the Diverse Cumbria Awards where our Shirl had been shorttlisted and was up for Commimity Role Model.

She didn't get that award - but it was ok because she was always our winner 💕

💕BUT💕

What a surprise in store as she won
✨️LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT AWARD✨️

So very well deserved 🥹🥹💕

We are so proud of her...
We are so happy that the sacrifices she has put in for over a decade was publicly recognised..(even though she doesn't do it for that)

Because so much of what she does and the charity does is the messy, painful and vulnerable work behind the scenes.

We love you Shirl 💕
