Sad news to bring from all at Storm as yesterday we sadly lost the clubs biggest supporter Jennifer Margaret Symonds

Jennifer always got behind everyone in the team and was a great source of motivation for all especially on a match day, this post comes with great sadness to have to write but all at the club would like to dedicate this post to the memory of the impact she made with everyone in the team and the dedicated support she provided throughout the clubs history 💜⚡️

We send our condolences to club captain Jay and his family at this time.

Great night Friday as we played a Round Robin tournament against Tubby Rugby which ended with a win each and a tie.

Tubby Rubby � vs Workington Storm RLFC round of 7s fixtures.

We make the familiar trip to Mirehouse once again tommorow night to take on Tubby Rugby in a couple/few games of 7s as we look to keep our form from last weeks victory.

Kick off 7pm, Mirehouse/St Benedicts astro all support welcome, thanks to all at Tubby Rugby and St Benedicts RUFC for the accommodation 🫡

Following on from yesterday's post we would first like to wish a huge thank you to the Workington Zebra Finches Women's RUFC who provided a great day for all and we hope they enjoyed it as much as we did!

The game was a backwards and forwards encounter with Storm getting the first points of the game when Kacper Wychowaniec scored back to back tries both from interceptions which were the first of his 5 of the evening 🫡

The lead flattered us a bit considering our slow start which was eventually shown when the Finches scored 4 tries in quick concession racing into a 20-8 lead. But of course we didnt give up as Owen Holmes grabbed one try back and Alex Newton got over for his first ever try for the club before Jayden Blair brought us level right on half time for 20-20.

The second half was a bit interesting as we had members of the mens open age team of Workington Zebras mix in between both teams. Storm got off the mark first and reclaimed our lead in the second half as Alex Newton was on the end of a great run to finish off an excellent try in the corner. Then Kacper Wychowaniec not only completed his hat trick but went on to score the next 3 trys for Storm quickly racing us into a 36-24 lead which was then made 40-24 by Callum Williams.

The Finches fought back really well and were a try off equalising until a cross field run from James Norman eventually led to a drop off for Blair to get over for his second making things a bit more comfortable but it still wasnt over as the Finches claimed back another try making it 44-40. With the seconds racing away the nerves growing we battled it out and defended our line really well before Owen Holmes finished off another brilliant run to end the game 48-40 to Workington Storm 💜⚡️
