As mentioned previously, this weekend was a day for defenders. Tough tackling, battling and being solid in defence was the main theme of the games. All players played their part, but the below players were highlighted for the way they applied themselves in all games.⭐

Desire, Courage and determination are just a few words to describe Lily’s performance today. Got herself on the scoresheet purely from her own determination to win the ball from the opposition high up the pitch. Lily also contributed in the defensive aspect of the game as she proved very difficult for the opposition to get past. A true captains performance.

An outstanding all round performance from Theo today. Every ball that came near him he dealt with convincingly when defending and showed his running power and skill when carrying the ball forward, up the pitch. Managed to get himself on the scoresheet with a well taken goal.

Aanother excellent defensive performance. Alongside Cynan, Lucas was another rock in the defence. He got stuck in, won plenty of the ball and did his best to get us going with attacks. Lucas thrives in wet, muddy conditions and he proved that in all four games. Well done Lucas.

Ruthin Town Youth vs Rhos Aelwyd

Rhos U7s made the trip to Ruthin on Sunday morning and the conditions were not the best for playing football.

The children put in some great battling performances. The pitches were heavy, grass was long and it was wet and muddy. However, there were some great battles on show.

You will see later in the week, that this game was all about defenders. Tough tackling, strong battles and determination was the key themes throughout.

Louie was brilliant today. He showed great technical ability with his first touch and passing. As usual, he worked his socks off all over the pitch, making a positive contribution to the team. Louie also scored a number of goals which was well deserved.

A dominant performance from Luke today all over the pitch. He was strong in the tackle and defended his goal with everything he had. Luke also showed his quality on the ball when stepping out from the back and becoming a creative force for his team. Luke showed his football intelligence as he looked to create space for himself and was unlucky not to get himself on the scoresheet which his performance deserved.

Archie was everywhere on the pitch as he defended the goal with some important blocks and also in the middle of the pitch as he got stuck into challenges. In attacking areas Archie continuously looked for space to be an option for his team mates to pass to him and was rewarded for his hard work as he got himself on the scoresheet.

Rhos Aelwyd vs Brickfield Rangers

Rhos U7s hosted Brickfield Rangers yesterday morning and it is safe to say that it was a tough one resulting in our first overall loss of the season.

The boys and girls put in a good shift, but a decent Brickfield side made it difficult for us to get any rhythm across the 9 games. At times we had to dig deep and do things that we are not used to which is a testamant to Brickfield. Despite the difficult morning, there were still lots of positives to take from the morning.

Football, especially at this age, is all about learning and development. This was a new experience for them yesterday and there's no doubt they will bounce back better than ever.

Rhos Aelwyd vs Borras Park Albion

Rhos U7s had a rare opportunity to host on Sunday and BPA made the short trip to Ysgol Y Grango.

Every time we have played BPA they have got better and better so we knew this was going to be a tough set of games. A mixed bag of results, but the children worked hard and put in some great performances.

The things we work on in training are starting to show on matchday, so it's really pleasing to see their hard work paying off.

Llay United Youth Football Club vs Rhos Aelwyd

Rhos U7s made the trip to Llay on Sunday for another away game where they played against Llay United.

In not the best conditions, Rhos played really well and come out on top on the day.

A huge test for us as we have not played in such conditions before. However, it brought a different side to their game and they showed great adaptability. A great morning for their development.

Archie is one of the newer players in the group and at first, he was quite a shy young man. However, he has really come out of his shell over the last few months.

With that, you can see his confidence has grown and his performances have improved vastly, which has resulting in him featuring in our team of the week frequently recently. He is a tough tackling player and gets involved more and more in games, having a positive impact on the team. He has also bagged a number of goals over the last few
