***News flash, National 10 TT Championships***

News is just reaching us at Beeston HQ regarding our pathway riders from both the girls and boys squads from the Academy and BCC Jr.

Andrew Woolf has put together a race report on what was a rather successful morning. Well done everyone!

Andrew says, Isla, Ellie and Hattie from the girls squad, Ewan from the junior academy and George from BCC Jr headed to Hatfield Woodhouse to compete in the CTT National 10 mile Championships on an out and back rolling course in good conditions.

All the girls had great rides, Isla taking bronze in the outright youth and junior championship and fastest in the 16 age category (26:01), Ellie taking first in the U14 age category (26:24) and Ellie and Hattie (27:36) first and second in the road bike category.

In the open category, George was named as Junior National 10 mile TT Champion with a time of 19:53 and Ewan coming in a fantastic 5th with another amazing time of 20:59.

Isla also formed part of the winning Beeston National Youth and Junior Team alongside Ewan Whiting and new National Open Champion George Bromley.

What a day at the office!

***Race report for Round 7 of the National Open Junior Road Series Tour of the Mendip***

Both Junior BCC and Junior Academy were in action last weekend. Read on!

Stage 1 - TT at Odd Down near Bath. 47 riders started with 46 finishing. Will came out fastest with a stunning time of 24:19. George was flying round the track but a miscalculation in the number of laps pushed him down the finishing order and as the weekend unfolded meant that a GC podium was not meant to be.

Stage 1 TT
Will 9th
Ewan 17th
Jamie 23rd
Jake 32nd
George 40th

Stage 2 was 118.3km with primes for a separate trophy rather than bonus seconds. An early break of 4 riders managed to get a lead of 1 minute and with around 85km to go Ewan bridged across with another rider. With two of the original breakaway falling back to the bunch the remaining four pulled out a lead of 2:30. The peloton split once the chase was on with around 15 riders chasing the lead 4 and were caught on the last climb. With 12 riders left together the sprint was on. Ewan had just enough left to contest the spring coming in 5th with Will following behind in 9th.

Stage 2 – Sprint Stage
Ewan 5th
Will 9th
George 16th
Jake 20th
Jamie 23rd

Stage 3 was 112.1km with primes at the top of the first 3 climbs of Old Bristol Road/Harptree Hill. It did not go as planned for Ewan who had his eye on the primes trophy (3rd after stage 2) as well as seeing what he could do with his GC position of 11th into this stage. The 1st time up the hill he was met with a mechanical and was unable to complete the stage. It was a really positive weekend for Ewan and showed his legs were strong. Halfway round on the 1st lap the bunch slowed so Jamie decided to attack and bridged over to another rider. They stayed away for about three quarters of a lap when joined by a third rider. They got caught by the bunch just after the end of the 2nd lap. George then jumped across to a rider ahead and stayed out for around 60km, he then pushed on, on the last climb to triumphantly take the stage win with a 17 sec gap on 2nd place showing his hard work and determination is clearly paying off.

Stage 3 – Climb Stage
George 1st
Will 14th
Jamie 32nd
Jake 28th
Ewan DNF

George 7th
Will 16th
