🏆END OF SEASON🏆

Even though our season may have ended prematurely, there was still plenty to celebrate at our annual awards night!

Even though only some individuals went home with an award, it doesn’t take away the effort, passion and dedication from every other player that has pulled on an RI jersey.

Committee have worked their socks off behind the scenes, and all deserve an award of their own.

A special mention to Ruth Whitehead, who deservedly has been belatedly awarded the 24/25 Clubman of the year.

Have you missed us? Sorry we’ve been quiet….

We haven’t ended the season how we would have liked. We’ve been plagued with injuries, and just haven’t been able to fulfil the fixtures that we had left.

HOWEVER, do not despair!!!

We plan on finishing our season how we always planned - with a fun old game, and a biiiig social to round off the day🍻

We’re welcoming Gateshead RFC Women to our humble abode on Saturday 6th June🏉

A physical, defensive match for the Runaways this week at the 2nd York Derby.

We kicked things off as always with huge RI energy but Yorks attack was relentless through the first half, gaining them an early lead. But that didnt stop our momentum- it just fired us up even more! The defensive effort from every player was massive, holding the line through phase after phase of pressure, and forcing mistakes within the 5m line to overturn the ball. Our continued defensive effort in the 2nd half saw York score only two tries with RI keeping them out of our 22. Disappointment hit when our try was overturned but the continued hard work, big tackles, and laughs along the way showed how much heart this team plays with❤️‍🔥

Shout out to our loaned players from Harrogate and West Park Leeds for getting in the RI spirit and putting in a shift!

✨FIRST GAME OF 2026✨

Holy moly, what a day.

First off, just a big thank you to for matching numbers, and lending us players. It’s just as frustrating for us not being able to field 15, but we’re always keen to get a game on and give it our all.

Today’s match was an experiment for RI. We’ve worked on moving up as a defensive line, and this contributed to a few of Scarborough’s handling errors and something that is hopefully embedded into our defensive work.

Charlotte, a new position for her at number 10 - not only had some excellent ball handling, but did a solid number with boot to ball🫡. Kicking is new part to RI’s game, so it was fun to try it where we could.

Tries came from solid teamwork to create the space needed for our rapid backs to squeeze through. A most enjoyable game to kick start 2026.

🌧️A difficult match for The Runaways this week in tough conditions against 🥶

The home side dominated the start of the game but once RI were warmed up they kept the pressure on, forcing mistakes and exploiting gaps to get points on the board! It’s great to see continued improvement from our newbies who are making a real impact on the pitch. 😍💪
