It lives! Our very smart, newly refurbished tug plane has had its first proper engine test which went very well. One step closer to being airborne and a fabulous testimony to the workshop engineers who have laboured tirelessly to get the project up and running. Amazing effort by all concerned!

Delighted to say that great progress has been made on the refurbishment of our new Eurofox tug plane, and it is now looking very smart indeed! There still remains plenty to be done in terms of testing and certification but we remain hopeful of having this in action before too long. A huge thank you to all of the workshop members who have put an incredibe amount of time and effort into this!

Probably the best soaring day of the season so far. A cold northerly air flow and bright sunshine meant a cloudbase of over 5,000' and particularly booming thermals. Lots of duration flights and some very respectable cross country forays. A particular mention goes to Josh Emsley who managed nearly two hours on only his third flight in his new glider (affectionately known as 'Rhubarb and Custard'). Great day - well done all!

Congratulations to Hao Zheng on his first solo glider flight yesterday. Seen here with instructor Andy Marvin. Well done Hao and just in time for the start of the soaring season!

Our runway is by far our most valuable asset and we are very lucky to own it. It means that we can fly through the winter when the grass is waterlogged and its size means that YGC is a very safe place to learn to fly with lots of options for landing Not all clubs are as fortunate, and it is therefore imperative that we look after it. Today was designated as a runway maintenance day and a whole bunch of members turned up with spades and hoes to clear the w**ds from the tarmac seams. This will be followed up with an application of industrial w**d killer in a few weeks which will pe*****te to the roots and should be very effective. A huge thank you to all those who gave up their time to help ensure we continue to have a well maintained runway to fly from.

It’s rare to see quite such a spectacular wave sky as the one we had today. Those lenticular clouds were quite something! Sadly that elusive wave lift proved to be just too far away and as a result no one quite managed to take advantage of the conditions. We had good fun trying mind!
