🍀 MATCH PREVIEW | COOLBOY RANGERS 🍀

Arklow Celtic make the trip to Coolboy Rangers this Sunday for our second game of the WDFL Division 1 season.

Both sides got off to a winning start last week, so we’re expecting a competitive game between two teams looking to build on their opening results.

The lads are in good form coming into this one and will be looking to pick up where we left off last week. If we can bring the same performance, attitude and work rate, we’ll give ourselves a great chance of coming away with another positive result.

Another big test for the Celts, and one we’re looking forward to.

Up the Celts! ☘️

Arklow Celtic 4 Wicklow Rovers B 1

We welcomed Wicklow Rovers B to Kane Group Build Park Sunday morning as we kicked off our Division 1 campaign.

It was the host's who started the brighter causing Rovers all sorts of problems all over the park with great link up and one touch football on display and on 6th minutes we took a well deserved lead when a counter attack on the left wing resulted in an corner a excellent ball in from Dylan Smith found the head of Chris Furlong giving the keeper no chance. On 10th minute we doubled our lead with excellent work coming from midfield with Patrick Walker putting a dangerous ball into our strikers Mikey & Doyler the two brothers where causing havoc in the Rovers defence in this case it was Doyler who finished off the move showing he's younger brother how it's done 😁. We continued to control the game giving Rovers the odd chance, and on the 22nd minute we scored our 3rd with a great ball from our defender Nathan Doyle that found it's way to Doyler the striker scoring he's second goal in style giving us a comfortable 3.nil lead. As the 1st half went on we continued to create chances with Dylan Smith coming close on a couple of occasions hitting the crossbar and post. The winger was awarded a penalty in the 42nd minute put unfortunately wasn't able to get on the score sheet with the Rovers keeper making a good save.

2nd Half
After a good positive team talk we scored our 4th with just 45 seconds into the second half.A corner from Mikey Doyle found Craig Caulfield the defencesive midfielder made a cleaver run form deep outside the box and with a bullet of a header found the back of the net giving the Rovers players no time to react. We kept the pressure on Rovers with Mikey Doyle coming close on a couple of occasions the striker was unlucky not to get on the score sheet.Rovers scored late on final score 4-1 Celtic all round great team performance.

Thank to Rovers for a good game and referee Joe Byrne

The big one is here! 💚⚽

Arklow Celtic head into the Tommy Devlin Shield Final against a very strong Wicklow Rovers side, who compete in the Premier Division.

The lads have put together a very positive pre-season so far, finishing top of our group with 2 wins and a draw. There has been plenty of hard work, good performances and progress along the way — and now we have a final to look forward to.

Wicklow Rovers will provide a serious test, but these are the games you want to be involved in. A great challenge for the lads as we head towards the end of pre-season and get closer to the real stuff.

🍀 PRE-MATCH | SECOND TEAM 🍀

Our second team are back in action this Sunday as they head to Ryders Field to take on Glencormac United.

This will be the lads’ second pre-season game together, giving everyone another chance to get minutes under their belts, build that understanding and continue developing as a group.

Glencormac will provide another good test, but the focus remains on getting the lads playing together, putting the work in and building towards the season ahead.
We are always looking to add to our squads anybody interested can contact the page or come along to training Tuesday/Thursday at the pitch.

Best of luck to the lads and management — Up the Celtic! 💚⚽

Glencormac utd 2 Arklow Celtic 5

We travelled to take on Glencormac utd on Sunday morning knowing a win could see us top of the group if other results went in our favour. It was the host's that started the brightest going 1 up after 10 minutes when a clearance from our defence found its way to the Glencormac player who hit it on the half volley from 20 yards out given our keeper no chance.Soon after they doubled their lead with a cross in from their winger that found the head of the on coming striker.

This was the moment the lads knew they needed to wake up and that's exactly what happened, they started to put Glencormac on the back foot upping our tempo and creating a couple of decent chances coming from our attacking midfielders Paddy & Chonk who had two excellent strikes saved by the Keeper, but that didn't detour the lads and with our defencesive midfielder Craig Caulfield starting to control the midfield giving the lads more freedom to get forward. It was Chonk that started off a great move finding Mikey Doyle with a peach of a ball the winger made no mistake finding Dylan Smith with a excellent cross on 39th minute to reduce the score to 2.1 this really got the lads fired up and on the 44th minute we equalised when Jay Rowlands was the quickest to capitalise on a defensive error in the box 2.2 going into the break.

2nd Half
The team chat was positive and with a couple of fresh legs coming on we continued to dominate the game and limit Glencormac to any clear chances,we took the lead when a kick out from our keeper found its way to our striker Jack Kavanagh, Jack found his strike partner Jay with a nice touch and Jay finished nicely for his second goal of the game. Our wingers were causing havoc and with bones working tirelessly up and down the winger got fouled just on the edge of the box.
Up stepped Chonk picking out Mikey who's header found its way to Jay the striker who finished of his hattrick in style.

Our 5th goal came from some really good link up play around the park with Chonk finding Jack Kavanagh the striker finished off what was a great team performance from everyone on the day. This result means we topped the Group with 2 wins and 1 draw 👏 and we'lll either play Wicklow Rovers or Ashford in the final of the Tommy Devlin Pre-season Tournament
