Castleisland Rugby Club Ametuer Rugby Sports club Castleisland Rugby Football Club was established in 1926.

The Rugby Club facilities, which comprise a Club house, dressing rooms and 2 full size pitches, one fully flood lit and all weather training area is located in the heart of Castleisland in an area known locally as the Craggeens. The Craggeens has been the Club’s base since 1991, when in the sixty fifth year of the Club the dream of many members came to fruition when the then president of the Munster Branch officially opened the Dressing rooms and Grounds. Castleisland R.F.C is a Junior Club and today enjoys a large membership with Junior 1,& 2, Teams being fielded by the Club. Like all voluntary organisations the running and maintenance of such a splendid facility has a tremendous drain on financial resources, all of which are financed from Club Membership subscriptions, sponsorship and gate receipts. Fundraising events are organised throughout the year and support from the people of Castleisland and surrounding areas is always very much appreciated so that this excellent recreational facility can continue to provide the people of Castleisland with an opportunity to produce quality players. Our new season is now upon us and we now prepare ourselves for a battle to regain our Div 2 Status. Our Junior 2 side in competing in the South Munster Junior League section A which is mostly West Munster based, this team is made up of young and old and is a great benefit to the !st teams in the steady flow of players between both. As part of our facilities in the Craggeens we have 2 full-size pitches 1 floodlit pitch and an all weather training area which is proving to be a good success. and makes the management of the grass pitches a little easier We also have a flourishing Youth Section in the cub and have been very successful in recent times and hope to continue attracting many new recruits during the season . We would like to call on all Members, Patrons & Supporters to please as always try to support as many Local Business and sponsors as you can as without their ongoing financial support we could not maintain the Pitches and facilities let alone improve them.

Island traveled to Waterpark in first round of cup today. The trip didn't seem to take much out of the lads, as they fired out of the blocks with a try from Wilko. Island dominated the first half but a poor kick chase resulted in Waterpark returning with a try to leave the half time score 7-5 to the home team.
The journey started to show its toll in the second half as Waterpark took control and outscored the Island 3 tries to zero.
Credit to the 16 who made the journey and speedy recovery to Greg Curran and Darragh Kelly who both got injured. De réir a chéile a thógtar na caisleáin ❤️💙

Castleisland traveled to Muskerry on a wet and windy Sunday. Muskerry got the better start going up 12 nil after 20 minutes. Castleisland responded with a try by Daragh Curtin, after some good carries from the pack. Muskerry responded with one more before half time, to leave the half-time score 19 - 5. Castleisland started the second half better with a carbon copy of their first half try with Daragh Curtin getting over again. Muskerry rang the changes and pulled away in the last 20 minutes scoring 3 tries without reply against a tiring Castleisland team. Final score was 36-10. Credit to the 17 lads who made the journey and hopefully will have more bodies back as we head to waterpark in the cup next weekend 🙌

Our U18.5 boys travelled to Abbeyfeale today to play Desmonds rugby in a high scoring game with only 4 points between the teams at half time. Listowel Castleisland opened the scoring with both sides trading tries up to halftime. Desmonds pulled away in the final quarter to win 45 to 24. We played some great rugby, lots to be proud off and plenty to work on ahead of our game nect weekend in Listowel against Killorglin. Thanks to all for your support today. 🏉

Our KICK U16 girls were in action this morning for their first league game against Tralee RFC in Killorglin Rugby Club. While the result did not go our way, the work rate, team spirit and determination of the girls never let up for the whole game against a very good Tralee side. We are extremely proud of the girls for the display and effort each and every one of them put in and the improvements continue each week. Thank you to Tralee RFC for a sporting game and to Anthony Kelliher for officiating. 🏉
