West Cork Jesters Rugby

We were thrilled last year when Clonakilty RFC invited us to hold a training session at their beyond perfect facilities. It gave us the opportunity to open up a bit more and we immediately got some fantastic new players, one of those is an absolute top athlete and today we would like to wish him a very happy birthday! Ruairí Murphy have a super birthday today!! we are so delighted to have you on board and I want to take the opportunity to tell you what an impressive athlete you are, we were all blown away by your skills and speed on the rugby pitch and then when we all headed to Alicante, during our leisure time there we were stunned by your swimming prowess! Unbelievable sporting skills! And by all accounts you are just one of those all round athletes who can turn their hand (or foot!) to absolutely all sports 👏 We’re so delighted to have you in the Jester family. A greatly skilled sportsman and a particularly nice young man! Look forward to seeing you back at training in September 🏉

We have wonderful people in our Jester family and none more so than Joy, an embodiment of generosity, always giving to others, never forgetting a birthday or a celebration, never asking for anything in return, so I’m asking for something for Joy and that’s your support. She’s been selflessly working away all summer gathering items together for her upcoming Jumble and bric a brac sale on August 14th. The Jesters are the beneficiaries so it’s a double whammy, Support for Joy which in turn supports the Jesters!
If all you can do is spread the word then please do that for us 🙏🏼 but ideally we’d love you to gather your friends and get along and buy yourself a few bargains at her fundraiser 👏

And another birthday we celebrate today is Hannahs!!!!! 🎂 🎈 🎁 🎊 🎉 🥳
Hannah was our extremely fast and talented winger for the World Cup in Pamplona last year, a small but mighty figure right out on the wing just waiting for the ball to make her attack. Hannah has been involved with the Coffee Stop on a weekly basis and especially back when we were in Durrus, along with mum Cathy they were instrumental in running a tight ship down there and have moved their skills into the bake house the last eight or nine months, as you are all aware we have lost our facility of the Bakehouse, as it has been sold, but we are so grateful to have had the use of it. It was a fantastic place for a social gathering, a meeting place, where we held our giggles, and a great opportunity for a bit of work experience so we thank the owners so much for lending us the space, it meant such a lot to us especially after the huge loss of our clubhouse.
So Hannah, we hope you have just the best day, because you definitely deserve it you have enhanced the Jester family so much, and your company is so very much enjoyed. Happy Birthday 🎂

Good Morning all! I must admit I was taking a semi break from social media, like all the other Jester volunteers it’s easy to get to burn out but during the summer it is nice to step back a little bit and recharge. But I am cross with myself because I took my eye off the ball and I have one birthday that we need to celebrate from yesterday, Thursday 16th, but that will come after another two birthdays we need to celebrate, all very important! Especially this one ⬇️

Ellen!!! we want to wish you one of our absolutely most dedicated players and Jester family members the best birthday ever today. You are a shining light within our community a natural leader and a natural team member. Thank you so much for all you do for us, for all the players you help on the pitch, you are always there with your arm around someone, or showing somebody what needs to be done at a training session, socially, you are continually there to support and help and for this we applaud you. You have been with us pretty much since the beginning except for a little gap and then you came back with a vengeance and are such a treasured member along with your sidekicks sister Sandra and your Mam, the inimitable Mags you are all a great big “O’Donoghue force” to be reckoned with and what would we do without you all. Have a very well deserved birthday today Ellen, you sure have the weather for it? I guess you’ll be working so here’s hoping your employers Coffee in Rosscarbery don’t go too hard on you today 🤣

Good luck to another of our multi talented Jester athletes!! So excited for our Jess tonight 🙌🏼 who was chosen from Bandon Special Olympics club to take part in a 100m sprint event against other club representatives from the Special Olympics Munster area. This takes place in MTU prior to the start of the international Cork city sports this evening, busy praying that the temperature might drop a little bit for them. Such a wonderful opportunity and wishing all these fantastic Munster athletes the best of luck.
