Feeling so incredibly grateful tor taking this time out today for me!! Fiona put together the most beautiful yoga retreat in Glencullen. Gorgeous weather, beautiful people, incredible venue! Loved it all, the yoga, sauna, food and the women’s circles.

Balancing on one foot is an exercise with surprisingly broad benefits for strength, coordination, and long-term mobility.

I teach balance work in all my classes and this is why! 👇

Physical benefits:
✅Better balance and stability
Standing on one leg trains the small stabilizing muscles in your feet, ankles, knees, hips, and core. This improves overall balance and helps reduce the risk of falls as you age.

✅Stronger core and leg muscles
Single-leg balance activates:
* Glutes
* Calves
* Ankles
* Hip stabilizers
* Core muscles

These muscles are essential for walking, running, climbing stairs, and sports.

✅Improved joint health and posture
Balancing encourages better body alignment and posture awareness. It can also improve ankle and knee control, which may help prevent injuries.

✅Better coordination and body awareness
This type of training improves proprioception — your body’s sense of where it is in space. That helps with reaction time, agility, and movement precision.

✅Brain and nervous system benefits
Sharper neural connections
Balance exercises force the brain and nervous system to communicate efficiently with muscles and joints. Research links balance training with improved motor control and cognitive function, especially in older adults.

✅Focus and concentration
Holding steady on one leg requires attention and small continuous corrections, which can improve mental focus as it is a mindful exercise.

Saturday Night, Infrared Sauna Night ❤️
Ohhh how my Saturday nights had changed!!! A few years ago I invested in an infrared red sauna…. I love it!

This year we did a house renovation and designed a designated spot for the sauna, our own little tranquil space ❤️ The benefits are fantastic for all the family. We use it about 3 - 4 times a week.

This evening I came in freezing after a long day - early morning, my training, kids GAA pitches from 10am and then working with my own clients in the afternoon. Nothing like a gorgeous sauna to warm up, relax, detox and rejuvenate while my hubby is cooking up a storm.

Scapula mobility & flexibly! This is one of my favourite exercises for a nice scapula stretch. You can do this sitting on a block, kneeling or standing. All with good posture and no hitching of the shoulders.
This is lovely as part of your warm up or cooldown on any exercise and sports regime.
