Before films had sound, going to the cinema was a very different experience.
At Manor Street Picture House, silent films were accompanied by music, helping to create the atmosphere and emotion of the story unfolding on screen.
Just imagine sitting in the auditorium, watching the flickering images while live music filled the room. 🎞️🎶
The technology has changed dramatically since then, but the idea of coming together to experience something remains.
The building has always been about creating experiences.

Imagine watching a film here with 630 other people…
The original Manor Street Picture House could accommodate around 630 people, with seating arranged across the stalls and a balcony.
Just imagine the atmosphere on a busy Saturday night - hundreds of people gathering under one roof to watch the latest film. 🎬
More than a century later, people are still gathering in this very building, just for a different kind of experience.
Different generations. Different stories. One building.

Over 110 years ago, people were already walking through these doors to go to the pictures.
Manor Street Picture House was purpose-built as a cinema in 1914, making it one of Dublin’s early purpose-built picture houses. It was designed specifically for the new and rapidly growing cinema-going experience. 🎞️
Today, the building has a very different purpose, but it’s still a place where people come together, connect and share experiences.
One building. Over 110 years of stories. ❤️
