Senior ladies were away to killarney celtic the other night in there first game of the season.Struggling for numbers 2 underage stars(Saoirse Hussey and Britney Bevan)stepped up so we could fulfill the fixture. The girls played outstanding, fighting for every ball.We were 2 nil down at half time and in fairness to all our girls they never gave up.Having no fresh legs to bring on and watching a very good organised celtic team bringing on 4 or 5 fresh legs it would of been easy to give up.Everyone of the girls kept fighting till the end and managed to keep the score line at 2.0.The girls are very grateful again for the Derrynane Hotel for kindly sponsoring the girls this year. Kenmare hosted an U15 National Cup game under lights tonight and it turned out to be a nail biting event at an amazing venue.

Ballyhar was the opponent and the teams went toe to toe until the 27th minute when Oisin G crossed the ball to Sean who put it in the net.

The second half continued with nothing in it until the 18th minute when Ballyhar got the equaliser, no matter how the teams tried the deadlock could not be broken and extra time was required as there had to be a winner on the night.

Ballyhar drew first blood with well taken goal in the first half, Kenmare rotated players and never gave up. They were rewarded with a penalty after Daniel was taken down in the box, Alistair was cool under pressure and he scored to even the game.

With a minute to go both sides were planning for a penalty shootout and Ben returned to the field, within seconds Alistair was taken down at the edge of the box, Ben stepped up the take the free and the ball ended up in the back of the net, the bench erupted. Kenmare saved the game with the last play, roll on round three of the Cup.

A big thanks to Ballyhar for travelling and playing a very sporting match, to the referee who let the game flow and to the spectators who were served an entertaining game.

Finally, thanks to The Landsdowne Kenmare who sponsored tonight’s team, pop in and say hello if you’re in town. The Lansdowne Kenmare

Our B team was in action today against LB Rovers who played D1 last season, while the lads gave it their all, the opposition proved to be to strong today.

Jakub and Tom came off the bench for their first game with us, great to have them on board.

The 18 lads who played today must be proud of their performance in that they never gave up, not an easy task against a superior side, we will see better days.

Thanks to everyone who came and Corrib Oil the team sponsor.

Our U14 girls travelled to Co Clare on Sunday afternoon to play against Ennis Town in the first round of the National Cup.
The back line of Orlaith, Ally, Ava & Sarah were solid from the outset. Abbie, Gabija and Fallon were magnificent in midfield, creating many goal opportunities. The team found an early opportunity to break through and fed the ball to Lily who masterfully found the net, 1:0 to Inter!
Anna & Mila kept the pressure on the Ennis goalie with plenty of shots on target. Sinéad and Maya came on with fresh legs, putting more pressure on Ennis. Ennis had some opportunities in the box but Elizabeth was covering her goal with dogged determination. The second half provided a fantastic display of teamwork and determination but the goals just weren’t coming. Gabija was unlucky not to secure a goal as she had four fantastic shots on target. Elizabeth made two epic saves in quick succession before Ennis secured a penalty in the last minute of the second half, making the scoresheet, 1:1 in to extra time.

Extra time saw more of the same, our girls worked hard and didn’t slow down. Ally was covering so much ground, Fallon & Gabija seemed to get an extra burst of energy! Anna O’Sullivan secured a well deserved goal (2-1) following a great pass up by Orlaith. Ally and Mila created an opportunity for Fallon O’Shea in the last few minutes, a fantastic goal and a great finish to a very exciting match! Final score: 3-1 to Inter. Players of the match: Gabija Knyzaite & Fallon O ‘Shea. A special thanks to Maya for travelling to Co Clare for her match debut with the team! Thank you to Ennis Town for a very exciting, sporting match and for the refreshments after the match! Amazing results 👏🏼👏🏼
