Hello everyone,

So there is a reason that I wasn't posting anything here, I had undergone 2 accidents, where I suffered a knee fracture & some concussion in my left leg, although I'm in the recovery phase now and will try to keep posting now.

As IYD is approaching lets celebrate joy of yoga. Each day there will a new asana you can participate just by uploading your photo and tag us.

The Asana of the day is "Vrikshasana(tree pose)"

Ustrasana

‘Ustra’ means camel and ‘asana’ means posture or seat. Therefore, Ustrasana is often referred to as the camel pose.

Camel Pose or Ustrasana is a chest-opening backbend that is energizing and beneficial. It is a wonderful addition to your sequence since it prevents slouching and eases lower back stiffness.

Benefits of Ustrasana

This is one of the versatile poses, which offers the following benefits-

1. This asana intensely bends the sacral spinal cord and facilitates the opening of the thigh muscles and ankles by stretching them.

2. This allows a prominent stretch of the hip region and allows the opening of shoulders and corrects the hunched back shoulders.

3. Camel pose opens the chest, tones the kidneys, and stimulates the respiratory, circulatory, nervous, and endocrine systems.

Contraindications of Ustrasana: 

1. People belonging to old age, or hernia and those who are less flexible should try this pose with proper medical guidance.

2. People having a spinal injury can take this asana under expert guidance.

3. If there is no adequate support, the spine may spasm, and hence it should be done with a lighter posture with a little variation of this particular asana.

4. People having neck injuries, whiplash, etc. must not drop their head back and keep it neutral, close to their chest while practicing this posture. 

5. Patients with recent abdominal surgery, Recent or chronic knee, shoulder, neck, or inflammation should avoid it.
