WINTER RULES:
Winter Rules will be introduced from Sunday 1st November 2026, and will be as follows
‘A ball lying on a closely mown area through the green (fairway) may be lifted without penalty and cleaned. Before lifting the ball, the player must mark its position. Having lifted the ball, it must be placed on a spot within ‘1 club length’ (this is specific to St. Clements Sports Hub) of and not nearer the hole than where it originally lay, that is not in a hazard and not on a putting green’.
See R & A Rules of Golf 2019: Abnormal Course Condition
LOCAL RULE: GOLF BALL EMBEDDED IN THE ROUGH:
If your golf ball is found to be EMBEDDED through the green, in the semi rough and the full rough, you can lift, clean and place, without penalty, as NEAR AS POSSIBLE to the spot where it lay but not nearer the hole. If this means that the golf ball is placed on the fairway, this is the ‘Rub of the Green’ and is permitted. R & A Rules of Golf: Embedded ball Rule 16:3.
The reason for this addition ‘Local rule’ is:
• Protecting the course.
• Fairness to all golfers.
• Request for this introduction last winter by several members.
• To maintain the speed of the round.
