Dear All
Entries are open!
Welcome to the combined clubs’ Jersey Regatta very kindly sponsored by Butterfield Bank ( ) making their exciting debut on the Island’s sailing scene. I am pleased to report that preparations are well in hand for the 28th edition of the Island's ‘flagship’ sailing event.
The Regatta is open to IRC and YTC cruiser/racer, sportsboat and Quarter Ton classes, racing in the beautiful natural arena of St Aubin’s Bay and adjacent coastal waters with the dayboat, dinghy and sport catamaran classes racing, independently, within the Bay. Running from Friday 4th to Sunday 6th September, the schedule includes three days of fun and keen competitive racing coupled with a lively social programme designed to give everyone the opportunity to unwind and enjoy the warm hospitality and camaraderie to be found in the Island’s clubs.
The Regatta gets underway on the Thursday evening with an ‘ice breaking’ reception and briefing at St Helier YC whilst the race programme opens with a distance race for the cruiser classes Friday morning. The ‘small boat’ classes follow with ‘round the cans’ racing in the afternoon. Friday’s programme is ‘standalone’ providing boats with an ideal ‘warm up’ opportunity that is independent of the main Regatta. Saturday and Sunday will see all classes racing for prizes and trophies for all classes on all three days. That’s a lot of prizes! A bumper prize-giving brings proceedings to a close on the Sunday evening.
Running within the programme on Saturday and Sunday, the 13th edition of the GBR IRC Channel Islands Championship (www.rorcracing.com) is the IRC cruiser/racer programme’s star attraction. This, too, is for local and visiting IRC cruiser/racers and is always hotly contested by the Island’s top racers and determined visiting challengers. We are most grateful to international sail-maker and sailing wear company North Sails (https://www.northsails.com) for sponsoring the prizes for the championship.
Ports of Jersey, through Jersey Marinas (https://www.ports.je/jerseymarinas), supporters since the first edition in 1999, will be, kindly, providing complimentary berthing for participating boats during the week of the Regatta. Please contact us if you plan to join us from ‘abroad’.
Entry is through the Notice of Race, available on the ‘Official Notice Board & Race Administration’ button at the top of the front page of our website, www.jerseyregatta.com
Please note that an ‘early bird’ discount applies up to and including Friday 21st August; standard fees apply, thereafter, until entries close on Tuesday 1st September.
Please contact us either by e-mail, [email protected], or call us on +44 (0)1534 732229 for any further information.
On behalf of our sponsors and the organising committee, I wish you fair winds and happy sailing through the season. We look forward to seeing you at the Butterfield Jersey Regatta and GBR IRC Channel Islands Championship in September.
