The Namibia Table Tennis Association’s second Arysteq Simonis Schools Tournament of the year was held at Wanderers Sports Hall in Windhoek on Saturday.
One of the highlights of the event was the debut of Waldorf School players in the series (pictured).
The tournament attracted 57 players and, for the first time in the series, recorded more entries in the girls’ division (31) than the boys’ (26).

🚨JUST IN: Five of Namibia’s top junior players are currently representing the country at the ITF U18 Junior World Tennis Tour at the Central Tennis Courts in Olympia, Windhoek.
The home contingent comprises Israel Dowie, Ruben Yssel, Johan Theron, Joanivia Bezuidenhout and Mari van Schalkwyk, who also form part of the Namibia Podium Performance Programme (PPP) in preparation for the Los Angeles 2028 Summer Olympic Games.
The team received support ahead of competition today from Namibia Sports Commission chief administrator Freddy Mwiya (first from left, back row), Namibia Tennis Association vice president Vekondja Kuzee (second from left, back row) and Namibia National Olympic Committee spokesperson Elmau Boois (back row).
Other players in the PPP not competing in the J30 and J60 tournaments, which run from today until next Saturday, are the Van Schalkwyk brothers, Codie and Connor, who are playing college tennis in the United States, and Codie Dippenaar, who is based in South Africa.

CVA LEAGUE 2026 SET FOR AN EXCITING SEASON KICK-OFF 🏐🔥
The Central Volleyball Association (CVA) League 2026 is officially set to get underway this Saturday, 11 April 2026, promising an action-packed start to the new season.
The matches will begin at 08:00 across multiple venues, including the Patrick Iyambo Police College in Olympia, the UNAM Gym Hall, and the outdoor courts.
The 2026 season features both male and female divisions. A total of 20 teams will compete this year, consisting of 12 male and 8 female squads.
