If you are into the sport of boxing as a competitor or a fan - this might interest you.
On Saturday 28 November 2026, Ruakura RFC will host a black-tie boxing event at GLOBOX Arena, headlined by Liam Messam.
This isn’t just another fight night. The vision is to create a professionally run event, ticketed through Ticketek, featuring corporate tables, sponsorship opportunities and a crowd of 700–1,000 people. The event has three key objectives:
Promote awareness of men’s health using the Movember Charity as a platform.
Create a unique event that brings the Hamilton community together.
Raise funds for Ruakura RFC and its community initiatives.
The aim is to have nine undercard fights, featuring a mix of former Chiefs players and well-known local personalities from across our community.
Each participant will complete a professionally managed 10 week boxing programme under qualified coaches. If you’re based outside Hamilton, you will be connected with a boxing gym in your local area.
Before anyone commits, there will be an information session, where they will explain the training programme, what’s involved, time commitments, safety, and answer any questions.
At this stage the organisers are simply looking for people who might enjoy the challenge, want to tick something off the bucket list, and help create an unforgettable event for a great cause.
