Mel-Tap maintained its winning form beating Marist/Uni 44-5 on a sodden Saturday afternoon at Hautapu.
Both sides endured a torrential downpour during the warmup, and it took the game some time to get going and players adapting to the slippery ball.
The lower ranked Marist/Uni threw plenty at Mel-Tap in the first 25 minutes before winger Ella Marshall sprinted clear to break the deadlock and Nikita Apiata, in her 50th appearance for her Melville club scored a great individual try running 40 metres.
In the second half, Mel-Tap used their speed wide out to good effect with tries to Maya Tebbutt, Taire Dixon, and forwards Dani Wisen and Lachyn Moeke.

Lachyn Moeke was awarded Cater Plus Player of the Day for another strong performance both on attack and defence. Other standouts in the forwards were Greer Garland and Dallone Beauchmin while in the backs – Maya Tebbutt, Dawn Hohua and Nikita Apiata.

Next Saturday, Mel-Tap travels to Fraser Tech for an all important clash which could decide the finals standings.

This week we celebrate another huge milestone as a team and as a club!! 50 games in the premier women division for Nikita.
Such a hard working person with a fierce personality! She is a leader not only on the field but within her community. This milestone is a reflection of Nikita's commitment and dedication to our women's premier team, to the players she plays along and to her whānau.
Congrats to Nikita and her whānau on this stepping stone.💚❤️

❤️💚 Update on the second round for Melville premier men’s B team

It was decided that our Alexander Group premier men’s B team will play the second round of in the Premier B competition and not in the bottom five of the Premier A division. The team has a high injury count particularly in the front row and it was deemed the best option.
Leamington, who won the first round of
Division A1 has decided to play in the bottom five of Premier A in the second round. That will give them the right to play premier A in 2027 should they wish to and if so Melville will play in Division 1.
Leamington will no doubt assess this at the end of the season based on how they perform. The WRU has left the door open and will maintain communication with both clubs so nothing will be finalised until the end of the season

Matches this weekend

The Premier Bs will play away against Leamington B this Saturday at 1pm
