It has been a privilege to support this project over the last few months, and we are excited to see how we can further support Deanwell School with their biking activities in the coming months.
We have delivered a range of support to School including;
🎓 Staff professional learning days
🚲 Cycle skills for pupils and staff
👨🔧 Bike fleet management (builds, maintenance and repairs)
A key outcome was to showcase how bikes and biking could be utilised within the curriculum to enhance/expand numeracy, literacy and STEAM learning and not just used for Sport/Play.
A consequence of having these bikes in school, we are also noticing a growth in pupils travelling regularly to school by bike/scooter and most importantly wearing helmets.

When staff listened to students, they discovered many children either couldn't ride a bike or didn't have access to one at home. At the same time, teachers were noticing another challenge - students thrived during structured activities but struggled with independent play.
