The Mat Blacks are alive and well in Tasmania!

There’s three days of practice in Port Sorell to come, followed by the test match from Thursday.

Great work across the country, spreading the word about our sport!

We have replied to every enquiry received from the Hamilton area so please keep an eye out for new faces and make sure they feel welcome at your club.

Indoor Bowls week this year was our best one yet, with over 120 people reaching out to NZIB directly and many more participating in events hosted from Whangarei to Southland.

It is heartening to see the enthusiasm and energy we have within our community- well done.

Tyler was the first spot prize winner chosen for dressing in the “yellow” theme at the Hamilton Triples last night and you can see why!! 💛👔

Congratulations to the winners of the Hamilton Championship Triples for 2026 - Matt Ellis, Logan Thompson and Caroline Thompson (St Andrews) and the Runners-Up - Selwyn Hale, Stefan Middleton and Jackie Carroll (St Andrews).

This was Logan’s first Hamilton title, Matt’s second and Caroline’s third!

Spot prizes for dressing in theme went to Tyler, Julie, Marson, Lesley, Jackie and Lachie and the raffles were won by John and Roddy.

Thank you to John Gavin for running the event on behalf of the Hamilton Sub-Centre and to all the teams for supporting the event.

Good luck to those playing in the Waikato Mixed Fours on Saturday.

A Busy and Successful Fortnight at Beerescourt Indoor Bowls Club!

We’ve had plenty happening at Beerescourt over the past fortnight, with two great events bringing members together.

Our first monthly Open Pairs Tournament was a real success, attracting 20 teams. It was great to see bowls returning to the side hall, which was used for the first time in many years! While it provided a challenge for those playing out there, it added to the spirit of the night.

After two section winners played off, Logan Thompson and Raewyn Tonks took out the win, with Gheorghe Sirbu and Lesley Monk finishing as runners-up.

A playoff for third saw Donna Reynolds & Steve F defeat Christine Foster & George Neville.

Congratulations also to John Gavin and Jim Hitchens, who were our raffle winners on the night.

Thanks to our club members for providing a lovely supper, and a special thank you to Ray Marshall for stepping in on the day to help square up a team, and to Raewyn Tonks for travelling from Pukekohe to compete.

Most teams have already rebooked for May’s tournament, with room for just two more teams - get in quick!

On Tuesday 7 April, we held our Champion of Champions Fours.

Congratulations to the winning team of Gheorghe, Mark, Margaret and Murray, with Christine, Barbara, Sacha and Harry finishing runners-up. Both teams were equal on wins, with the title decided on ends – 11 ends to 10 – a very close contest!

Well done to everyone involved and thanks for continuing to make Beerescourt such a great club. 👍

📰 CLUB NEWS 📰

Beerescourt played their Championship Singles last night with a good turn out of 16 players doing battle.

There were two 4x winners Mark Colls and John Gavin. An extremely close result with Mark declared the winner with 30 ends to John's 29 ends.

Congratulations Mark (pictured, left) who will go onto to represent Beerescourt at the Champion of Champions events in August for Hamilton and Waikato.
