E ngā whānau, tēnā koutou!

📣 SAVE THE DATES! KAPA HAKA 2026 📣

We are excited to re-share the dates for our four Kapa Haka rōpū as they prepare to perform at the Ngāti Kahungunu ki Heretaunga Ahurei and Tama Tūranga in Term 4!

This is a special year in the history of our kura. Our Kākano tamariki will take to the Ahurei stage for the first time in a very long time, while a selected group of our Whanake Kapa Haka rōpū will step onto the Tama Tūranga judged competition stage for the first time in our school's history!

It is a huge milestone for our tamariki and kura, and one that has been built on the hard work, commitment and passion of so many of our tamariki and kaiako throughout the years.

Nau mai, haere mai! We look forward to sharing these special performances with our whānau and wider community. ❤️🖤

Kia ora whānau,

We are wanting to warmly invite our whānau and community to be part of a special morning at Mahora School this Tuesday 13 October at 9.30am, as we officially open our new and improved bike track. This is a really exciting milestone for our kura, and we would love to celebrate it alongside the people who support our tamariki and school community.

We will be acknowledging the amazing support that has helped bring the track to life, before enjoying the special moment of seeing our tamariki take the first official laps. A huge mihi to Bikes in Schools, Pub Charity and The Lion Foundation for their generous support towards this kaupapa. We would love to see plenty of familiar faces there helping us celebrate this exciting addition to our kura.

Our final House Competition of the term delivered a BIG UPSET, with Ngaruroro taking out their first title of the year after winning Dodgeball at lunchtime today! 🔥

Against all odds — and a stacked Karamū whare — Ngaruroro stepped up and got the job done! 💪

What a way to wrap up the term!

Our 2026 Colour Run was full of colour, laughs, mess and plenty of energy as our tamariki made their way around the course! 🌈

A huge ngā mihi to Four Square Mahora for generously providing refreshing Powerade and ice blocks for our tamariki to enjoy at the finish line. It was very much appreciated after all that mahi! 💪🏽

Firstly, a massive thank you to our kaiako, kaiāwhina and whānau who supported the day and helped make the event such a success. From setting up and running stations to cheering on our tamariki and helping clean up afterwards — we really appreciate the mahi and support! 🙌🏽

We also want to take this opportunity to say a huge thank you to all of our Mahora whānau for your incredible support with fundraising this term. The amount of money we have raised towards Whanake Camp has been outstanding, and that is down to the generosity, effort and support of our tamariki, whānau and wider community. ❤️

Your fundraising will make a real difference for our tamariki, helping us keep the cost of camp as manageable as possible and ensuring that as many of our Whanake tamariki as possible can experience this awesome opportunity.

We’re now looking to wrap up our 2026 Colour Run fundraising, so keep an eye out on HERO for the final fundraising updates and one last push!

RAUPARE STRIKE AGAIN: ANOTHER HOUSE COMPETITION WIN! 🏆

Unbelievable scenes in the school hall today as Raupare has claimed another House Competition victory, taking out this year’s General Knowledge Kahoot Quiz!

It was a tight battle right to the end, with Ngaruroro and Karamū holding first and second place for almost the entire competition. But with just two questions remaining, Megan and Willow of Raupare had other ideas — swooping in to steal the win!

🥈 Second place: Karamū — Hugo and Bailey
🥉 Third place: Ngaruroro — Sammy, Amaia and Cypress

A massive ngā mihi to our House Captains for running the event and creating the Kahoot. A special shout-out to Avreet, who put in a huge amount of mahi behind the scenes to create the quiz. 👏

Talofa lava! Mālō e lelei! Kia orāna! Bula Vinaka!

🔥Lua Pati Mahora!!!🔥

What an amazing, emotional day to see our kura represented with pride on stage at the HB Junior Polyfest at Toitoi Events Centre. The nerves were present but as soon as our tamaiti hopped on that stage…WOW! Our tamaiti made us proud and the most important thing- they all had fun!

Our Tamaiti got to show the WORLD that the hard work they have put in, paid off with their energy and determination across both our groups. We received amazing feedback from so many people and we can’t wait for HB Junior Polyfest 2027!

Te Wānanga Whakamutunga

Today our Whanake kapa haka rōpū held their third and final wānanga of the year, putting in the mahi to sharpen and perfect their bracket ahead of Tama Tūranga and Ahurei midway through next term.

Awesome commitment from our tamariki, giving up part of their days off to come together, learn, practise and grow.

TE REO ON ROAD PATROL!

This morning, Avery-Reign and Michaela took on a special wero for Te Wiki o te Reo Māori, learning some new kupu and rerenga kōrero to use while on road patrol.

They were able to practise their reo while helping our tamariki and whānau cross the road safely, as well as making sure everyone arriving at kura felt welcomed with a friendly greeting.

What a cool way to show that te reo Māori can be used everywhere in our classrooms, out in the playground, at the school gate and as part of our everyday mahi.

Thank you for stepping outside your comfort zone, giving it a go and helping bring te reo Māori to life at our kura.

Every kupu counts, and every time we use te reo Māori, we help it grow.

Kī o Rahi at Mahora! 🏐

Today our kura was proud to host the annual Kī o Rahi purēitanga, welcoming tamariki from Camberley School, Te Kura o Kimi Ora, and Frimley Primary School to Mahora.

It was an awesome day of whakawhanaungatanga, tākaro and competition, with plenty of teamwork, determination, skill and most importantly, fun!

A huge ngā mihi to our visiting kura, kaiako, whānau and tamariki for helping make it such a great day.

He rā tino pai mō te whakawhanaungatanga, te tākaro me te whakataetae, me te nui o te mahi tahi, te manawanui, te pūkenga me te ngahau!
