The end of the season has come and although track time was scarce, the times we did get on track it was an amazing experience. Now to off-season maintenance to get the car ready for a bigger and better season at the end of the year.

Back to Rotorua (after many rainouts) for the Bay of Plenty Champs on Saturday and Easter Champs on Sunday. Thankfully the weather decided to play ball this time so I could get back out on track.

Night One:
Still on the Mentor programme as it’s only my second meeting so I had to start at the back of a 31 car field for all the races. I came away with a 16th, a dnf due to a flat tire, and an 8th.

Night Two:
Starting in the grid for tonight and drew 17,4,19. Race one I managed to climb to 11th, race two I finished 4th (after coming out of turn 1 in the lead) and then I was running in 12th after a couple laps in race 3 before popping another tire which resulted in a dnf.

Overall, unfortunate not to string 3 races together as a good points finish was on for both nights but thats how things go, still none the less very happy with the two nights and the learnings to take away. Big thanks to Terry, Clarkey, and Sam Wright for their help and support over the weekend.

After a painfully long wait, we finally returned home to Paradise Valley Speedway with my new Stockcar to get my first meeting underway. The journey up until this point did not come without it set-backs but it’s never felt so good to be back. Although the plan was to ease into the new car through a couple club nights, I was not going to pass up the opportunity to race at the second night of the World 240s, which included a 25 car stockcar challenge.

The day started of perfectly as the car was successfully green-sheeted so onto the first race I went, filled with excitement but also nerves. The only driving I had done up to this point was getting it on and off the trailer so I had no clue what to expect when I rolled out on to track for heat 1. However all the work paid off as I managed to finish p10 after starting p22. Now with nerves settled I managed to finish p14 from p24 in heat 2, and p9 from p25 in heat 3, ending 8th overall on points.

As first nights go, I couldn’t have asked it to be any better, so now onto getting the body stripped of paint and sanded to get the car properly dressed.
