Great to see Matthew Wilson continuing to make his mark internationally with Scott.
A gravel bike, a mountain biker, and one of America's biggest crits. The roadies probably didn't see that coming. 😉
Awesome result & great to watch from back here in NZ.
How do you follow up a 200-mile gravel race? Well, if you are Matthew Wilson, you head a few hundred miles south, swap wheels on your Scott Addict Gravel bike, and solo to victory at one of the biggest criterium races in the United States.

So stoked to see the Cat Eye Moon ride back on the calendar. It's been 10 years or so this event was run.
Great battle all day with the boys with them taking the win over our lads.
Thanks to for bringing this great event back. Bring on next year!!!

Our boy bunny showing once again why he's the quiet achiever and experienced veteran. Taking out the win in Maters 1 category at last week's age group nationals in ferral weather.
Worlds qualified.....
Japan inbound??🤔🤔🤔

Few of the lads getting back into it over the tail end of Summer and into Autumn.
Fraser Hewett back racing after a back & shoulder fracture a month or so ago. No easing in either. Straight into it & grabbed 2nd at the 'famous' Southland Wednesday Worlds. Always a solid hit out down there.
Josh Cavanagh ticking along too, picked up 2nd at the Waikato BOP Auckland Champs.
Eli Tregidga been down in the gravel scene and picked up a win at the Hawea club race. Good to see him getting one.
On the gravel/CX side, Cory Hartgill starting to lock in a bit of focus heading into the upcoming CX season. Fresh NZ kit coming through from Tineli New Zealand as well, so he’ll be lining up to defend that NZ U23 title.
Few of the boys heading offshore soon as well for the northern hemisphere summer — mix of Europe and US racing. Good chance to test themselves and see where they’re at.

Bit slow on the post, but worth calling out…
A couple of weeks back, Rotovegas was home of the 2026 NZ XC Champs. Matthew Wilson delivered a strong performance to take 2nd 🥈 in a seriously competitive field (XCC & XCO).
Always a tough day at nationals and this year was no different, with Anton Cooper setting the benchmark lije he does so often. Matty was right in the mix and showed he’s well and truly riding at that top level.
Special skill to handle both sides of the fence — dirt and tarmac & still find his way onto the podium in NZ Elite.
Good to see him lining up against the best in NZ before heading offshore for the US gravel season.

Following their last week’s announcement around the junior selection pathway for Worlds, it’s great to see some real focus going into supporting NZ's young riders.
Nice work to Mark, Rochelle and everyone involved in putting this together. These sorts of initiatives are important (& really exciting) for giving the youngsters coming through a clear opportunity.
Looking forward to seeing how the juniors go at Oceania in a few weeks.

Matthew Wilson takes the win at Round the Mountain.
Backing up yesterday’s big ride, Matty lined up again today & took victory at the Round the Mountain Classic in New Plymouth.
First run in 1911, Round the Mountain is NZ's longest running cycling race, circling Mt Taranaki on a challenging 127km course. With exposed roads, rolling terrain, it’s a race with serious history & one that rewards the strongest riders on the day.
A quick switch from the Scott Spark yesterday to the Scott Foil today, and the road bike delivered exactly what was needed.
Awesome ride mate, adding your name to the history of one of New Zealand cycling’s true classics

Huge ride from Matthew Wilson today taking the win at the Karapoti Classic, stopping the clock at a very fast 2:15, putting 3 minutes into 2024 & 2025 winner Caleb Bottcher for 2nd.
For those that know the race, Karapoti is no walk in the park — 50km of rough terrain, big climbing & the infamous Devil’s Staircase thrown in for good measure. It’s one of NZ’s toughest & most iconic MTB events.
Awesome to see Matty take it on & deliver a massive performance.
Nice one Matty 👊
