🏁 SEASON 3… DONE & DUSTED! 🏁
Well… we survived. 😂
If there’s one thing we’ve learnt this season, it’s that race cars can be very expensive drama queens. 🙃 Between mechanical failures, electrical gremlins 👹, technical issues and a few DNFs we’d rather forget, the Green Eyed Critter certainly kept us on our toes.
But that’s motorsport.
You fix it. You laugh about it (eventually 😅). You load it back on the trailer… and you come back swinging. 💪🏁
Alan gave it absolutely everything behind the wheel all season, and we’re stoked to finish the OK Cup 1-Hour Grand Finale comfortably inside the Top 10 against some seriously quick machinery (and a few wildcard entries who clearly chose violence 😂).
Not a bad way to finish the season! 👏
Now for our favourite statistic… 👀
🏆 Every. Single. Class C race we FINISHED… we WON.
Turns out the trick was simply making it to the chequered flag. 🤣
As proud as we are of that achievement, it’s time for a new challenge…
Are we moving to Class D?
😂😂😂 Not a chance.
Team Lowndes Racing 888 is heading to the REBELS CLASS! 🔥
Bigger challenge.
Faster cars.
Light modifications.
A whole lot less chance of an easy podium…
…and honestly, that’s exactly how we like it. 😎
We’re not moving up because it’ll be easier.
We’re moving up because we want to race the best, learn more, push harder and find out just how fast both the team and the Green Eyed Critter can really go. 💚🏎️
We’ll also be teaming up once again with Bruce Simmonds in Car 65 as Team Torque, and we can’t wait to hit the grid together again! 🤝🔥
Now for the biggest thank you of all…
To everyone who followed our journey, liked a post, left a comment, shared our updates, cheered us on, lent us tools, turned a spanner 🔧, helped in the pits, gave advice, wished us luck or simply believed in us…
Thank you. ❤️
This sport isn’t just about the driver—it’s about the people standing behind the team.
A huge shoutout to:
👏 The Stable Boys
👏 Dave Verryt
👏 Bruce Simmonds
👏 Alicia Lowndes (the one making us look faster than we actually are 📸😂)
👏 24 Red Racing
👏 Jarvis and Lowndes Electrical Ltd
👏 Fiona (for putting up with race weekends and race car conversations 24/7 ❤️)
👏 Every pit crew member throughout the season
👏 Our fellow competitors
👏 Alex and Dad Simmonds
👏 Tim
👏 Nick
👏 Sam Simmonds
👏 Nathan
And to all the volunteers, marshals, officials, recovery crews, the OK Cup Committee and every series sponsor…
You’re the reason we get to do what we love every race weekend. We appreciate every single one of you. 👏❤️
So… that’s Season 3 in the books.
More laughs than we can count.
More lessons than we expected.
A few broken parts.
A lot of late nights.
Countless memories.
And we’re only just getting started. 😉
🏁 Season 4
🔥 Rebels Class
🏎️ New challenges
💚 Same Green Eyed Critter
💪 Same determination
We’ll see you all at the track…
…and with a little luck, hopefully the only thing smoking next season will be the tyres. 😏🏁🔥

Things won’t look the same next season for Team Lowndes Racing 888 and the Rebels Class of OK Cup. 👀
Big changes are on the horizon, and we’re excited for what’s to come. Stay tuned… this is just the beginning. 🏁

🏁 TEAM LOWNDES RACING 888 🏁
Winter Series is back, which means it's time to spend money on tyres instead of sensible things.
Alan heads to Taupo this weekend for Round One of the Taupo Car Club Winter Series, where he'll be attempting to drive faster than his excuses.
Bruce Simmonds returns in the #65 Toyota Celica, ready to continue their long-running rivalry and prove once again that friendship ends when the helmet goes on.
Meanwhile, Chris O'Driscoll finally makes the debut we've all been waiting for in his stunning Ford Sierra Cosworth. It's taken years of work, countless hours, and probably several moments of "why did I start this project?" but the Cosworth is ready to hit the track.
So if you're coming to Taupo, grab a coffee, find a spot on the fence, and enjoy a weekend of racing, noise, and grown adults behaving like overexcited children.
Friendship suspended until the chequered flag
🏁 Let the racing begin!

Day done!
Alan started P25 and fought through to finish P8 out of a packed grid of 40 cars.
Some absolute cracker battles out there making up places and elbows out, mirrors full, and probably a few people checking their rear-view mirrors for emotional support.
Huge thanks to all racers, track volunteers and organisers for putting on an awesome event.
New PB at Hampton Downs Motorsport Park today too, which is fantastic news because now Alan can spend the entire off-season chasing another two tenths instead of relaxing like a normal person.
Massive effort from the pit crew Tim, Dave and Alex; absolutely nailed it all day. No missing tyres, no loose wheels, no panic… suspiciously professional behaviour honestly.
Big thanks to “Team Torque” teammate Bruce Simmonds with an awesome drive bringing home 3rd in class and 3rd overall. Proper effort and hopefully enough points to drag the rest of us up the table kicking and screaming.
Thanks again to:

Alex

24 Red Racing

Jarvis and Lowndes Electrical Ltd
And of course teammate Bruce Simmonds.
Special thanks to Dave Verryt’s substitute - thanks Dave, definitely brought some smiles and only mild psychological damage to the team.
Next season here we come… with empty wallets, bald tyres, and absolutely zero intention of making sensible financial decisions.

Righto ladies and gentlemen, tomorrow, Sunday 17th May… chaos officially begins.
The OK Cup Season Ending 1 Hour Enduro Grand Finale is here… and somehow New Zealand motorsport has managed to squeeze 40 cars onto one grid without needing traffic lights and a roundabout.
For the first time in a VERY long time, it’s a fully loaded grid. No qualifying either; because apparently stress builds character - so grid positions are based on class points. That means Alan is starting P25 and has approximately everyone in the country to pass before lunch.
There are some seriously big names, seriously fast cars, and probably at least one bloke who thinks braking is optional. It’s shaping up to be an absolute weapon of a race.
We’ve got:
* 1 hour of racing
* 1 compulsory 2-minute pit stop
* 47 heart attacks for the pit crew
* Tim and Alex running pits and comms trying to keep everyone calm
* Alan in the 888 and Bruce in the 65 trying to defend the Team Trophy like it’s the last pie at a petrol station
The calculators are out, the radios will be screaming, and the blood pressure monitors are already nervous.
Huge thanks to everyone helping out and supporting the team, we genuinely couldn’t do this without you legends.
Media & socials by Alicia Lowndes meaning if anything dramatic happens, there’ll probably be photos before the dust settles.

Well a great Sundays racing at Hampton Downs.
Alan drove the Team Lowndes Racing 888 Pulsar to the limit.
The weather was forecast to be terrible for race day, but turned out to be gorgeous.
Qualifying on a greasy but drying track Alan managed to qualify 3rd.
So starting P3 on the grid and after some place movements managed to finish 1st in class and 3rd overall so podium time!
Race 2, this was a delayed handicap start and starting from 22 on the grid. After some amazing battles and some cars going off track or having contact Alan managed to get through most of the field and finish again 1st in class and 3rd overall, another podium.
Thanks to all Racers, helpers, followers and spectators. Such a great group of people.
Special thanks to VRacer for letting us try out testing some amazing new features on offer soon.
Also thanks to Bruce Simmonds car 65 the other half of Team Torque who drove a hard fought races too.
Also Dave Verryt in the 444 Honda, the Stable Racers!
Videos to come on the newly established Stables FB page soon.
Next mission the season Finale, the 1 Hour Enduro.
Until next time stay safe out there.

Team Lowndes Racing 888 is on the way to Hampton Downs Motorsport Park.
Forecast says “wet and spicy,” which sounds less like racing conditions and more like a questionable life choice… basically a free car wash with added fear.
Wet tyres are on, anti-fog is fighting for its life, and the drivers? White knuckles, trust issues, and gripping the wheel like it owes them money.

Team Lowndes takes to the track with the upgraded 888 featuring a brand new livery.
