CALLING ALL LEAD REIN RIDERS 📣

We have 1-2 spaces left in our Lead Rein group for the 2026/27 season!

What to expect:

• NZPCA Lead Rein syllabus led
• Teaching confidence and independence in pony care and handling
• Strong foundations and a gentle transition from lead rein to independent riding
• Small group for personalised attention

MEET OUR TEAM: President 📣

We’re delighted to introduce Kirstyn Kloosman as the President of Waimauku Pony Club for the 2026/27 season!

Kirstyn’s connection with Waimauku Pony Club spans almost three decades, having first joined the club at just nine years old when she was beginning her riding journey. She remained an active member until she headed off to university, before returning to the club in 2015 when her nephew began riding.

Since returning, Kirstyn has become an integral part of the club, spending the past six seasons as a coach, working with riders across a wide range of ages, levels and abilities. She has also served on the Committee for the past two seasons, bringing a wealth of experience and knowledge.

Kirstyn has a huge passion for young riders and the opportunities Pony Club provides - helping them build confidence, develop their skills, work towards their goals and, most importantly, enjoy the journey along the way. She particularly loves watching riders progress and seeing how much they can achieve throughout their time at Pony Club.

We’re incredibly fortunate to have Kirstyn’s experience, dedication and enthusiasm guiding our club, and we’re excited to have her take on the role of President for the season ahead!

Wow! A huge thank you to everyone who has enrolled with Waimauku Pony Club for the 2026/27 season! We have lots of new faces joining us, and we’re so excited to welcome you and your families to the club!

With our little club continuing to grow, we’re thrilled to be able to expand our coaching team. A warm welcome to our brand new Lead Rein Coach, Samantha Syme!

Samantha has been riding for 12 years and brings experience across multiple disciplines, competing to Level 2 Dressage, 105cm Eventing and 1.20m Show Jumping. She has represented Waitemata Rodney in Show Jumping and Dressage, as well as NZPCA in China. Samantha holds her B Certificate and is no stranger to coaching little riders, previously taking the Riders Without Horses group at Silverdale Pony Club.

This season, she’ll be inspiring and supporting our lead rein riders as they build confidence, learn the fundamentals and make that important transition from lead rein to riding independently.
We’re so excited to have Samantha joining our coaching team and can’t wait to see our littlest riders flourish under her guidance!

NISS SUPERSTARS ⭐️

Congratulations to Waimauku Pony Club riders Molly Buckingham and Hazel Wilson-Watts, who have just wrapped up a huge week at the North Island Secondary Schools Equestrian Champs in Taupō!

One of the biggest shows on the calendar, with competition fierce across the board, the girls had an incredible week (despite the relentless cold wind!) and came away with some outstanding results:

WOW! A HUGE THANK YOU to Pub Charity Limited for their generous support!

Pub Charity distributes gaming-machine proceeds through grants to community organisations just like ours, helping fund important local projects, sport, recreation and community initiatives across New Zealand.

A special thanks also owing to the businesses partnered with Pub Charity that operate in our wider area: Huapai Tavern, Bridgehouse Lodge, Northland Gateway and Warkworth Inn.

This grant will give our members access to modern, safety-compliant show jumping equipment that better reflects a competition environment, enhancing rider safety, supporting better training and competition outcomes, and allowing us to offer more events and opportunities to our wider equestrian community! 🥳
