MEET LEGEND JAD
Six months after moving to the Wairarapa, Jad wandered through the doors of HealthFit… and six months turned into something a whole lot more than just joining a gym. When I got chatting to Jad I asked him what training gives him that he can’t get anywhere else, his answer was simple “A sense of target and focus” and that says a lot! Life can be bloody busy, and when you’ve got plenty on your plate, having somewhere to turn up, switch on and focus on yourself can be pretty powerful. Jad”s journey is about much more than muscles and lifting weights.
He openly admits that in his 20s, he used binge drinking and ci******es as ways of dealing with his mental health. Somewhere along the way, he made the decision to swap those habits for exercise, proper nutrition and looking after himself and look at him now !👊🏼I’ve seen Jad doing chin ups, heavy bench press and even running and apparently that's now considered easy! He’s not only increased lean muscle mass ,had some weight loss but has gained a whole lot more strength, confidence and self-belief. When I asked him what keeps him motivated on the days he really doesn't feel like training, his answer was very Jad - “If I don't do it now, I have to do twice as much tomorrow. You’re right there fella, hard to argue with that! Then there’s the brotherly rivalry. Jed’s current goal is to chase down some of the benchmarks set by his brother and he’s already equalled some of them despite his brother having been training for considerably longer. Nothing like a little sibling competition to keep the bar nice and high Jad! 😉My favourite answer came when I asked him what he’d be missing if HealthFit had never been part of his life. His answer? “Probably wouldn't get to watch my wife do as well as she has. She's come a long way. I'm simply her partner in crime” and THAT, my friend, is pretty bloody awesome. ❤️ Two people supporting each other, getting stronger, healthier and fitter together with a little sibling rivalry thrown in for good measure. Jads advice to anyone nervous about walking through the doors? “It’s going to be hard in the beginning, but it’s worth it. There are no judgements and everyone is pretty supportive of each other.” That's exactly what HealthFit is all about. You don't have to be fit to start and you don't have to know what you're doing. You just have to be willing to take that first step.
The rest? We'll work on together. 💪🏼Well done Jad. Stronger body, clearer head, better habits and a few benchmarks still left to chase. Keep pushing, keep progressing, and keep giving your brother something to worry about.
We are all so proud of you fella and lovely to chat x
