Old Rafflesians’ Association Hockey Club is made up of current and ex students of Raffles Institution

After undergoing some restructuring in the club, a core group of ex-rafflesians are now back in charge. We aim to play competitively at the top tier of Singapore hockey as well as to provide a platform for Rafflesians to come together through hockey. We have been promoting the sport and have continuously been supplying players to the National Men's team.

ORA vs SAA, Team HI Match Report

A successful double gameweek for ORA as we came away with two important wins against SAA and Team HI.

We started the weekend with a hard-fought 2-1 victory over SAA in a close and competitive game. The boys came out strongly and built up a solid 2-0 lead through disciplined play and sharp attacking movements. SAA managed to pull one back later in the game to increase the pressure, and momentum could have shifted further when they earned a stroke, but after they failed to convert, the team stayed composed and defended resolutely until the final whistle. It was a gritty and determined performance that showed the squad’s resilience under pressure.

The second game saw us produce a dominant 6-0 victory over Team HI, making it two convincing wins against them so far this season. It was a strong attacking display with the team creating chances consistently and converting them clinically, while the defence stayed disciplined and composed to secure another clean sheet. Ian marked his return from injury in style with 3 assists, controlling the tempo going forward, while Faris bagged a hat-trick.

Two very different games, but six valuable points for us as we continue building momentum heading into another two double gameweeks ahead. 💪

ORA Hockey vs Hollandse Match Report

ORA produced a strong comeback to win 6–1 against Hollandse in an entertaining clash.

The game did not start as planned, with Hollandse taking an early lead after a defensive lapse. ORA responded without panic, gradually regaining control of possession and building momentum through structured play. The equaliser came through sustained pressure, with sharp passing and intelligent movement opening up the Hollandse defence before the chance was taken.

Once ORA found their rhythm, the shift in tempo was clear. The second goal followed soon after to give ORA the lead, and from that point the attacking unit clicked into full gear. Quick transitions, relentless pressing, and clinical finishing proved too much for Hollandse, who struggled to cope with the intensity. Wave after wave of attacks followed, with the third and fourth goals effectively killing off the contest.

By the time the fifth and sixth went in, it was a complete attacking display, with sharp link-up play and composed finishing rounding off a dominant afternoon.

Despite conceding early, the response highlighted the character and determination running through this side. Turning a deficit into a 6–1 win reflects not just attacking quality, but discipline and unity across the pitch.

A strong statement performance, and one that sets the standard moving forward.

ORA Hockey vs Tornados / OVA Match Report

A demanding double match weekend saw ORA take to the field on both Saturday and Sunday, coming away with two victories.
Saturday’s clash against Tornados ended 1–0 in a tightly contested affair. ORA controlled large periods of the game and applied consistent pressure in the attacking half, winning a number of penalty corners without being able to convert them. The solitary goal proved enough, with a compact defensive display keeping a clean sheet and securing the three points.

ORA carried that form into Sunday’s match against OVA, winning 3–2 in difficult, rain-soaked conditions. A 2–1 lead was built through sharp attacking play before Ish stepped up with a powerful drag flick to extend the advantage to 3–1. OVA pulled one back late to set up a tense finish, but ORA held firm to see out the result.

Two wins from a double match weekend keeps momentum building as the season progresses.

ORA Hockey vs Team HI Match Report

A composed and convincing start to the season for ORA.
We opened our campaign with a commanding 8–0 victory over Team HI, reflecting the quality, intensity and intent in attack the team has been building towards. With 6 players finding their names on the scoresheet, it was a true demonstration of our attacking depth and cohesion built not just on finishing, but on movement, understanding, and efficient play.

While the result is one we can be proud of, it also sets the standard moving forward. There is still much to refine, and we remain focused on improving with each performance. This is only the beginning of the journey, and we look ahead to the next fixtures with the same intensity and purpose.

Congratulations to the two debutants Kang Zheng and Ryan Vir

On to the next.

What started off as a hockey match somehow looked more like a lacrosse exhibition – thanks to the sheer number of high balls flying around. Spectators (and possibly a few confused pigeons) had to double-check they weren’t at the wrong sport. It wasn’t until one particularly ambitious ball landed squarely on Megan’s hip that everyone remembered: oh right, there’s a high ball rule in hockey. 🤷🏻‍♀️

From there, it was classic us: dominating possession, stringing passes together, creating chance after chance, hitting the post (twice for good measure), and racking up short corners like we were collecting Pokémon cards. But the goal? Nowhere to be found. 🤯

Still, the team kept at it with full intention and no signs of slowing. For the second week in a row, Wendy put in another commanding performance in midfield that had us all wondering if she’s secretly been a midfielder all along.

Finally—finally—on our umpteenth short corner 8 minutes into the 3rd quarter, Clare took a shot that deflected off a defender and landed in the goal. We had finally broken the curse. The sigh of relief was palpable.

With momentum on our side, Zara channeled her inner Usain Bolt and zoomed past three defenders, firing a shot on goal which Shannon deflected right into the path of Eryka, who casually slotted it into an open goal. The bench went wild, and so did the uncles from the pickleball game upstairs.
