Just remember that health is wealth. We only got one life, it’s best to not sacrifice our health for any sort of business, work, content or clout. Because once it’s game over, that’s it, you can’t change anything anymore.

Week 3 of training for UTMB OMAN 🇴🇲 in December.
I’ve been increasing my mileage each week and hit a nice 48KM last week (excluding my 14 km Bukit Timah hike). So it’s time to up the ante a little bit more as I get more used to the additional miles.
This week I am trying to start running more in the afternoon under the hot Singapore sun to acclimatise better to running in Oman ☀️.
My route was from Shenton Way to Gardens by the bay across the Sheares bridge and the East Coast Park highway through East Coast Park and back home. This is an extremely painful and roots, as there’s no shelter on the highway bridges. Temperatures were about 30° so I definitely had a hot time.
Thankfully, I had my trusty HOKA Singapore to keep my face shaded and the Bondi 9s with the max cushioned underfoot which helped made the run feel effortless and keeps my feet fresh for the harder sessions.
Always good to have a tough session in, and makes me feel more ready for the runs ahead 💪.
We all know that managing our weight is a process of managing our calories, and obviously our calorie intake through what we eat is very important. But on the other side of the equation, expanding calories through running is also a great way to manage overall calories.
Many coaches are already recommending walking 10,000 steps for weight-loss. This is just basically doing it faster 🤓. Also running burns more calories, build more aerobic and muscular endurance, build more mental resilience, and finishes much quicker than walking.
I also feel that running is a superior form of cardio due to its simplicity and availability to anyone with a pair of running shoes. All you need to do is to lace them up head out and start running 🏃♂️.
Disclaimer; Of course, I also understand that some people are unable to run due to physical limitations, so, in that case, walking is definitely a great substitute!
HAPPY FATHER’s DAY to all the dads and husbands out there! Remember that your physical health matters a lot. Not just for you, but for your loved ones. As the protectors and providers of your family, being strong and healthy gives you the foundation to show up fully for the people who need you most.
We all know how easily work and life can crowd out time for ourselves. But it’s never too late to start again. Keep on trying! 💪
A win is a win 🤷♂️
Looks like we have another strong contender in the ready to drink protein shake race in Singapore!
This time we have the F&N Magnolia protein shake coming in with ~169 calories and 30g protein (71% protein weightage). Great macros for sure and edges out the popular Meiji protein just very slightly.
Taste wise, it is pretty chocolatey but not too “Gao”. It does taste abit like the old school magnolia ice cream. It does have a slight artificial (sweetener) taste but it’s not bad!
Definitely try this out and let me know which you prefer! Currently $4.75 at supermarkets.
OMAN UTMB PREP VLOG:
Time to get a little more serious so we are getting some gear to prep for more miles and the 4 July Trail run. And of course, new shoes is always a motivating factor for running 🙆♂️.
I’ve heard good things about the HOKA / HOKA Singapore Speed Goat 7s so that’s what I planned to get! Also wanted a pair of comfortable and better cushioned daily trainers as I am upping my mileage each week and the very pretty Bondi 9 caught my eye so I got that too. Both fit really well and I did not need to get the wide versions.
Unfortunately it was a rest day so I could not test them out immediately. But I am really excited to try them out soon! 🔥
~177 days / 6 months to Oman UTMB!
Hyrox MIGHT be different in a years time because of this! If Hyrox is your thing, maybe it’s best to expect some changes soon 😬
Honestly my number one go to strategy to get through chicken breast and white rice 😂
I took part in the National Jiu Jutsu trials last two months ago and lost in the first round against the eventual champion. It was close to 4 months of hard prep, training multiple times a day, cutting down 8kg, pushing myself to the limit.
Unfortunately, my best wasn’t enough and I lost. The loss cut deep because it was one of the best training camps and joining the national team was a big goal for me.
The unfortunate truth in life, is that sometimes, in fact, most times you will lose if you try to achieve something. But that shouldn’t cause you to be fearful to try to dream big. Ultimately, it is the journey that matters most and is what will show you the depth of the character.
keep dreaming big and chase that dream hard ❤️
