It’s almost race time! As a reminder, packet pick-up will take place tomorrow (Friday, November 8th) and Saturday (November 9th). Location and times are listed below. We’ve been getting quite a few questions about whether the race will happen with the recent snow and the answer is yes, everything will take place as scheduled. Did you know the 2024 Rio Grande Half Marathon & 5k supports Special Olympics New Mexico?

Special Olympics athletes Tim and Van will be running the Rio Grande 5k before heading to the Leadville 100 Trail Run in Colorado on August 17th. Their goal in Leadville is to raise awareness and run some miles alongside ultra runner, Adam Trubow, to raise money for Special Olympics New Mexico. We are excited to announce that Dairy Queen on Coors will be a the Rio Grande Half & 5k with DQ Dilly Bars for all race participants! It’s one more reason to sign up if you haven’t already!

As part of our commitment to providing the best race experience possible, we are changing the location and course of the 2024 Rio Grande Half Marathon. Our new USATF Certified Course will start and finish at Balloon Fiesta Park, with a turnaround on the Rio Grande Bosque Trail. This change will ensure better traffic control, more parking, and showcase our city’s fantastic Balloon Fiesta Park.

Our new courses are both USATF-certified, and the half marathon remains a USATF championship. All race participants can choose a best-in-class race shirt or singlet, enjoy free beer, live music, and participate in various raffles and giveaways. The half marathon will have cash prizes, and the 5K winners will receive a free pair of Hoka shoes of their choice.

Help support victims of the Ruidoso fires! $10 from every Bosque Running shirt and hat sold goes directly to those in need. Grab yours at the Run for Ruidoso event this Friday!

Looking for something fun and healthy to do on the 4th? Come out and race the Firecracker Race featuring both 5k and 1 mile options!

The Albuquerque Police Department is collecting donations to support those impacted by the Ruidoso fires.

Items needed:
- hygiene products
- bedding
- water
- sports drinks

Donations can be dropped off at any APD substation Thursday through Friday from 8:00a.m.-5:00p.m. (University Area Command until 4:00p.m.). On Saturday, June 22, the last day of the donation drive, items can be dropped off at the Old Town Substation, located at 2060 Central Ave. S.W.

The donations collected from the help of the community, will be transported down to Roswell this Sunday, June 23.

UPDATE!

Manzano Mesa Multigenerational Center, located at 501 Elizabeth St SE has offered to be another donation drop-off location. Their hours are 8:00-9:00p.m.
