The second-generation O2ptima CM is here. Preorders are open.
What’s new:
- 15 cm shorter from top to bottom
- Redesigned loop with 3D counterlungs, 35° connections instead of 90° elbows, and wider, more flexible hoses
- 6.5 L loop volume, with work of breathing close to 1 joule in lab testing
- Petrel 3 or NERD controller options
- Black SuperFabric or Cordura in red, blue, green, pink, and white
- Made in the USA
Already have an O2ptima CM? The plug-and-play upgrade gives you the new loop while using your existing scrubber, electronics, and DSV. Basic operation is the same, so no crossover or additional training is required.
Complete units are $7,500 with Petrel 3 or $8,000 with NERD. Upgrade pricing is $1600. Shipments are expected to start at the end of November.
We are also putting together a 7–9 day CCR certification trip to Bonaire in August. You will take an introductory course on either version of the CHOP. I’m taking three students, and two are already tentative. A $500 deposit locks in your spot. Once the three spots are secured, the class is full. $2500 for the full course; remaining costs (housing and vehicle) split among the participants.
