There was a theme in the studio today.
Different women. Different seasons of life. The same conversation.
A mom getting ready for her kids to go back to school.
She’s ready for life to slow down a little. Maybe even pause. But with that came the guilt of taking time for herself when there is always something else to do, especially while her kids are little.
A retiree who spent years putting everyone else first.
Her family. Her friends. Everyone who needed her.
Until one day she realized she didn’t really recognize herself anymore.
And a mother and daughter who have been through a season of health scares and just…life.
They finally decided it was time to prioritize themselves.
Somewhere along the way, taking care of ourselves became the thing we would get to after everything and everyone else was taken care of.
And I kept thinking about that today.
Because life doesn’t suddenly become less full.
There will always be someone who needs you.
Something that needs to get done.
Another season to get through.
Maybe the goal isn’t to wait until there is finally room for you.
Maybe you make the room.
Even if it’s just an hour.
You belong on your list, too.
And today was a pretty beautiful reminder of why this place exists.
