Weโve been busy over the past month getting our pastures in top shape. The most important step was removing all of the old high tension wire. We took out over 6,400 feet of loosely tensioned 12.5 gauge wire that limited our ability to safely utilize our pasture land. This month we upgraded to highly visible 1.5โ Safe Tape electric fence where all the wire had been in two of the pastures.
Our third pastureโs fence was beyond repair. We said good bye ๐ to the 30+ year old plastic posts and loose high tension wire. This week we placed over 400 new posts to rebuild the pasture while creating a new large fourth pasture and oversized laneway/flex space. We still need to place all of the post caps among other things but Iโm so happy with how this much-needed project is turning out.
Offering large well-managed grass pastures with safe fences for daily turn out in small groups of compatible horses is a priority for our farm.
Next up, lots of brush hogging, w**d whacking, and wild turkey watching in the process ๐๐ณ๐ฆ
