A Colorado native and former Lady RoughRiders captain, Julia Volpe returns to the program after an impressive playing and coaching journey that continues to inspire the next generation of athletes.

From competing at the AA, AAA, and NCAA Division III levels at Suffolk University—where she served as assistant captain—to coaching across multiple age levels with the Lady RoughRiders, Team Colorado, and Monarch Coyotes, Julia brings leadership, passion, and high-level experience to the bench.

Known for her competitive, development-focused coaching style, Julia is committed to helping players grow both on and off the ice through teamwork, effort, accountability, and respect.

We’re excited to have Coach Julia back behind the bench for another season! 💚🖤🏒

Meet Coach Richie McNeil

With over a decade of coaching experience and 30+ years in the game, Richie McNeil brings a deep passion for player development to the Lady Rough Riders.

A former Metro State collegiate player, he has built his reputation on developing athletes at every stage—from foundational skills to high-level ex*****on.

Known for his expertise in power skating and skating mechanics, Richie has spent years helping players build speed, confidence, and hockey IQ.

Now entering his second season with the Lady Rough Riders, he’s building on a strong development year and preparing athletes for success at the 16AA level.

Big news for the Lady Coyotes!

One of the league’s most established and respected programs, the Lady Coyotes have proudly competed in every season since the league’s inception. Coming off a strong season representing Colorado at Nationals, the momentum continues!

For the 2026–2027 season, Neil Runbeck returns as Head Coach, bringing a proven track record of leadership, development, and competitive success.

With a legacy built on consistency and growth, the future is bright for the Lady Coyotes. 💛🖤🏒

Lady RoughRiders are thrilled to have Shana Cote back as the head coach of 19AA Lady RoughRiders.

Shana grew up playing hockey in the northern Colorado area and is a Lady RoughRider alumna. At the age of 15, she played for the Northern Cyclones in New Hampshire and later played NCAA DIII at Suffolk University. Shana's freshman year was the inaugural season for the NCAA DIII Women’s Ice Hockey team at Suffolk, where she was the rookie of the year. A few of her other accolades include Player of the Year during her junior and 5th years, Team Captain for three years, and All-American during her senior year.

Shana began coaching during her summers and after coming home from school. She hopes to share everything she can with the next generation of girls’ hockey players.
