BUST: Sticking your hands forward does not help you move your balance over your feet - if anything, we see people compensate by sticking their butt back up the hill.
Hand’s forward also results in a pole-plant too close to the ski tip, blocking your commitment to gravity.

We encourage you to hold your hands out comfortably to the side and just in front of torso, enabling an efficient and effective pole touch.
