🔺The 10-to-1 rule. This is a simple guideline experts use when hunting for high-protein foods. Ideally, you want about 10 grams of protein for every 100 calories.

So, if your snack has 150 calories, the gold standard would be around 15 grams of protein. Our protein Doritos? They hit 10 grams per serving, so they’re in the “pretty good” category, but not elite.

Let’s look at how these chips fit into your day. If you’re reaching for a snack, most nutrition pros say 150 to 250 calories and at least 10 grams of protein is a smart move.

That means these chips totally work as an everyday pick-me-up or mini-meal—so long as you actually stick to the serving size.

But what if you want a full meal, especially if you’re looking to build or maintain muscle? The usual muscle-recovery target is 25 to 30 grams of protein per meal, so unfortunately, 10 grams just doesn’t cut it solo.

You’ll need to add more protein-rich items to your plate. Like chicken breast or tuna salad, or a cottage cheese buffalo chicken dip paired with these chips. Again, I personally would not have them solo.
