Breathe. Move. Get Stronger!

06/03/2026

It only takes one workout to feel the difference πŸ™ŒπŸΌπŸ‘ŠπŸΌπŸ’ͺ🏼

06/01/2026

It's all in the feet! What is footwork?

πŸ‘£ Footwork:
🟰 stability through the feet so you have a stable foundation to build your strength and your length πŸ’ͺ🏻
🟰 work to connect from your feet to your powerhouse and lengthen out the crown of your head πŸ‘‘

If your heels push forward as you open the carriage (going away from the foot bar), I know what's coming next and it's not going to sound pretty πŸ™‰

It also doesn't feel good πŸ€¦πŸ»β€β™€οΈ

Don't be a Noisy Nellie. Work your feet and connect to your powerhouse and it'll all be smooth sailing from here on out β›΅

(Hint: I never said easy peasy 🀭)

So much has changed in the last decade πŸ—“οΈ

...and also so little 🫢🏼🩷

What's changed:

β€’ in the first version of the Saw, I had so many conflicting voices in my mind regarding this exercise, and no hands-on instruction. No cues about my feet, ankles and hands, no hands-on instruction to understand what I was doing with my spine.

β€’ second version: I was bridging and starting to learn the classical method. I worked really hard to get things right, so I made all the corrections I could, but I was tight around my waist.

β€’ today: I really didn't feel like making a video today. But here we are. My right arm has fallen because a while back I slightly pulled my shoulder. I have to work on returning to normal, instead of favoring it. I used 2 positions for my legs: feet into dowels (no flexion) and up on the moon boxes (flexed feet).

How far back do you think these videos go? 10, 15, or 20 years?

Have you had hands-on instruction for the Saw, and did it make a difference? Let me know in the comments! πŸ‘‡πŸΌ

πŸ•΅πŸ»β€β™€οΈI spy with my little eye, Pilates edition:

Teaser. Spine Stretch Forward. Rollover. Tree 🌴

Pilates asks 2 things: move your spine, lengthen your body.

And for the people stirring up trouble where there us none, yes you can totally lift weights and do Pilates. Pilates helps you balance out the work you do in the gym. They are complementary disciplines πŸ‹πŸ»β€β™€οΈπŸ€

This week, we've worked on lengthening the legs, vs straightening them, and resetting the nervous system so that we can work better instead of powering through the work, like we do through life πŸ‘ŠπŸΌ

Pilates that makes sense, all-inclusive, all ages, you could be a dancer, you could be a computer warrior, you could be a mom or a dad, Pilates is fabulous for everyone in any season of your life. Try it, your only regret will be that you didn't start sooner. I have yet to hear the opposite and I know. I'm the first one to say this.
