Ballet teaches more than positions and pointe work. It teaches patience — the kind you build over years of barre work before a breakthrough finally clicks. It teaches discipline, resilience after a hard correction, and the quiet confidence that comes from showing up, again and again, for something you love.
It teaches how to fail gracefully and try again. How to support a fellow dancer instead of compete with them. How to listen — to music, to your body, to feedback — and grow from it.
At AOC Ballet, we've had the joy of watching dancers grow up through our graded program, year after year, level after level. We've watched shy beginners become confident performers. We've watched dancers go on to study at top university dance programs, pursue pre-professional training, and step into stages far beyond our own.
And we've watched just as many carry these lessons off the stage entirely — into classrooms, careers, and lives built on the same discipline, focus, and heart that ballet first instilled in them.

Our Creative Movement & Pre-Ballet program is a joyful, age-appropriate introduction to the world of ballet.

✨ Alumna Spotlight: Cassadra Avendano ✨
As Cassadra wraps up her final semester at Skidmore College, we couldn't be prouder of the dancer — and person — she's become. Majoring in psychology with a dance minor, she's spent her college years performing in faculty and student works nearly every semester, expanding her artistry into modern and improvisation while diving into choreography and dance history.
A standout highlight: performing with Monica Bill Barnes & Company at the University at Albany — a true testament to her versatility and curiosity as a mover. 🤍
But through it all, ballet has remained home. Cassadra still takes class most mornings, a beautiful reminder that this art form doesn't have to be a career to be a lifelong love.
As she looks toward graduate school in clinical psychology — with hopes of becoming a psychotherapist — we love that the discipline, resilience, and self-awareness ballet instills will carry into her next chapter. And we're keeping our fingers crossed she finds her way back to the Bay Area soon!

At AOC Ballet, we begin formal ballet training at age 5, when children are developmentally ready to grasp and execute the beautiful concepts at the heart of classical technique. But the love of dance? That starts much earlier.
Creative Movement is where that love is born — a joyful, imaginative introduction to music, movement, and the magic of the studio. We meet every Wednesday at 2:45 pm, and we can't wait to welcome your little one.

When someone with a professional dance and choreography background leaves our spring performance feeling this, it means everything to us.

We are so excited to welcome Faith Robinson to the AOC Ballet family! ✨Faith is a San Jose-based dance artist, choreographer, and educator whose work is rooted in curiosity, collaboration, and a deep commitment to inclusive movement. A graduate of San Jose State University's BFA Dance program, Faith has performed and collaborated with companies including 2nd Best Dance Company, SJ Dance Co, and David Dorfman Dance — and has presented original choreography at the ACDA Northwest Conference and the 2026 ACDA adjudication in Las Vegas.
What we love most about Faith is her heart for all movers. She brings that same creativity and care to our Boundless Ballet program, giving children and young adults with special needs the joy and freedom of dance. Her teaching spans contemporary, hip hop, lyrical, jazz, and improvisation — and her belief that every body belongs in the studio is something we share deeply.We are so glad you're here, Faith.
