Boundless Ballet is our adaptive dance program for children with physical, cognitive, and developmental needs, including Autism Spectrum Disorder, Down Syndrome, and more. Let by Faith Robinson these classes bring safe, professional ballet technique to a warm, judgment-free space built on encouragement, never pressure.

One parent put it best: her son "eagerly looks forward to coming to class each week," and has made a friend along the way. That's what Boundless Ballet is all about — confidence, coordination, and creativity, one dancer at a time.

Boundless Ballet was created for dancers of all abilities, but has specific design points such as our visual schedules, consistent and clear class routines and expectations, and opportunities to take a break in a designated spot when needed. ✨ Alumna Spotlight: Isha Nadig ✨

Some dancers leave the studio and never stop moving forward... Isha is a perfect example. After training full-time with The Rock School and the Washington Ballet Trainee Program, Isha went on to earn her bachelor's degree with honors in Chemical Biology at UC Berkeley, proving that the discipline, focus, and drive built at the barre translate far beyond the stage.

Today, Isha is conducting research at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory and UCSF, and has applied to PhD programs to continue her work in science. And through it all, ballet has stayed part of her life — she still dances with Berkeley's ballet clubs and Berkeley Ballet Theatre, catches performances by SF Ballet whenever she can, and keeps herself moving with trips to the gym or runs out to the Berkeley Marina.

We are so proud of the dancer, scholar, and person Isha has become. Her path is a beautiful reminder that a foundation in classical ballet doesn't just shape dancers — it shapes leaders. 💫

Congratulations, Isha! We can't wait to see where your research (and your dancing!) takes you next!

🍂 Fall Session Is Starting!
The excitement is building at AOC Ballet — new leotards are ready, studios are prepped, and our fall term has begun! But don't worry if you haven't signed up yet — there's still time to join us.

For our littlest dancers (ages 3-5), Creative Movement is the perfect introduction to ballet — think imaginative play, musicality, and the very first building blocks of technique, all wrapped in a joyful, nurturing environment. Ready for a bit more structure? Our Young Dancer Program continues to build those foundational skills with care and proper technique from day one.

For our older dancers ready to grow, our Graded Ballet Program welcomes new students through a placement class — a low-pressure way for us to get to know your dancer and find the perfect level for them to thrive.

Whichever path fits your dancer, our fall session is where confidence, discipline, and a love of movement take root.

We are so grateful for Sandra Hahs and the technical excellence she brings to every level at AOC Ballet. 🩰

Sandra's journey with ballet began in Portugal, training in the Royal Academy of Dance method, where she also served as a teacher's assistant, helping prepare students for their RAD exams. She went on to study at the Escola Técnica de Profissionais de Bailado before joining the Companhia Nacional de Bailado, Portugal's National Ballet Company, where she spent three years dancing in the corps de ballet, performing everything from classical repertoire to contemporary works.

With 17 years of teaching experience in ballet, pointe, pre-pointe, and variations, Sandra has taught in studios and private school settings alike, and she's certified in the ABT® National Training Curriculum from Pre-Primary all the way through Level 7.

Her technical eye and depth of training show up in every class she teaches — and we're so lucky to have her sharing that expertise with our dancers, at every level.

Registration is open for our Young Dancer Program this Fall! 🩰✨

Designed for ages 3–7, this is a joyful first step into the world of dance — built on curiosity, imagination, and a love of movement. Through Creative Movement, Pre-Ballet, and Beginning Ballet, your child will build strong posture and foundational movement skills, connect with rhythm and musicality, learn ballet vocabulary through storytelling and creative imagery, and grow in both confidence and coordination.

It's a non-competitive, developmentally appropriate introduction to ballet — taught by experienced instructors who specialize in early childhood dance, in small classes designed for individual attention. No pressure to perform, just a welcoming space to explore and grow.

Classes begin August 17th and run through December 19th.

Pointe shoes are a milestone, not a starting line. 🩰

At AOC Ballet, readiness for pointe isn't about age or excitement. It's about strength, alignment, and years of foundational training built safely, step by step. This is a personal philosophy Director Crystal Petzel holds firmly: every dancer is evaluated individually, and progression is based on technical ability and physical readiness, never rushed for the sake of a milestone.

Why? Because proper development protects a dancer's body for a lifetime of dance. Strong ankles, solid core control, and correct alignment take time to build, and that time is what makes pointe work safe, sustainable, and truly beautiful when a dancer finally gets there.

It's a philosophy rooted in care: we're not just training dancers for today's class, we're building the foundation for their whole dance journey.
