🥋 A weekend of friendship, learning, and gratitude!
Charleston Shotokan Karate Club extends a heartfelt thank-you to Sensei Sean Watkins for inviting our dojo and students to the 7th Annual Fernandina Friendship Cup!
Our students enjoyed the seminars, training, and opportunity to learn alongside fellow karate athletes in such an encouraging environment. Thank you to Sensei Julius Parniczky and Sensei GianPaul Rivera for sharing your knowledge and enthusiasm. From kata and kihon to kumite, there was something valuable for everyone to bring home to the dojo!
Sensei Taylor Wood was honored to teach alongside these instructors and appreciates the opportunity to share her passion for karate with students of all levels. She also extends her sincere gratitude to all the officials for their time, dedication, and guidance. Your care and encouragement helped make this tournament a positive learning experience for our students.
Thank you to Fernandina Dojo for collaborating with us, organizing the tournament and seminars, and welcoming our CSKC family. Creating opportunities to teach, train, compete, and build friendships takes tremendous effort, and we appreciate everyone who made this weekend possible.
We came home with new lessons, wonderful memories, and even more motivation to keep growing.

Fall Semester is in full swing and I am so excited to see both old and new faces in the classes! In addition to the Fall classes, I'm equally excited to invite you all to Amelia Island, Florida for an opportunity to support CSKC.
Join us to TRAIN, COMPETE and/or LEARN (and please note... this call to action doesn't exclusively apply to karate students...)

Join CSKC teammates at the 2026 FRIENDSHIP CUP (Kata/Kumite Seminars, Referee Training, Practice Competition & MORE!)

WHEN: Friday October 2nd - Saturday October 3rd
WHERE: Amelia Island, Florida (an easy ~3/4hr drive away!)
WHAT/WHO: Students as young as 4yrs are invited to join in on this awesome weekend of fun. A training seminar for all skill levels will be held Friday evening, and a practice competition designed to provide great experience for all will take place Saturday afternoon.
Additionally, every parent (or student 16yrs+) is highly encouraged to consider participating in the referee seminar held that Saturday morning - If you've ever had a desire to learn more about the rules of competitive karate or simply want to find out if refereeing karate is right for you, then THIS is your chance. I encourage you all to step out of your comfort zones and try something new this upcoming weekend, as you will get the opportunity to learn from some of the most knowledgeable our sport has to offer!

🥋🇺🇸 What an honor to wear the Team USA uniform and compete on the Pan-American stage!

Today, Mikayla competed in her division at the Junior Pan-American Championships in Costa Rica. While she didn’t get the result she was hoping for in her match against Colombia, this experience is about so much more than one fight.

Today’s result is just one moment in a much bigger journey. The honor of making the team, representing the USA, and being able to say “I competed at the Junior Pan-American Championships” is something that will always be hers. 🇺🇸❤️🥋

This is only the beginning. 💪🇺🇸
