People ask why I never stay quiet. Why? I know what happens when people try to silence you when challenging the authority of those who make life harder for everyday people.

This is the shirt I was wearing when I was shot. I almost died.
The older I get, the more I realize the tactics change, but the goal never does. Maybe it’s violence. Maybe it’s money. Maybe it’s power, as we see in politics everyday. The goal is to make good people afraid to speak up. Don’t ever let them.

Know the history of this city. It’s more fragile than people think. The moment good people decide it’s easier to stay quiet, the wrong people win.

I was blessed to get another chance at life. I’m going to keep speaking up for what I and many others believe in. I hope you never stop speaking yours- no matter how hard it may be.
