Not every fitness goal has to be a marathon, a competition, or a huge PR.
Coach Dave wraps up our private training series with something we believe is just as important: consistency.
As we get older, training becomes less about proving something and more about preserving something. Strength. Mobility. Energy. Independence. The ability to keep doing the things you love with the people you love.
It’s also a side of CrossFit Grandview that many people don’t see.
While we’re known for our group classes and competitive athletes, a huge part of what we do every day is private training. We work with people of all ages and backgrounds who simply want to move better, feel better, and invest in a longer, healthier life.
You don’t need to have an extraordinary goal to benefit from coaching. Sometimes the best goal is just showing up consistently.
That’s where real change happens.

One of my favorite programming blocks of the year starts Monday.
For the next four weeks we’re diving into our .Com Training Cycle—inspired by the workouts that made so many of us fall in love with CrossFit in the first place.
Expect heavy lifts twice a week, classic CrossFit-style workouts, Olympic lifting, gymnastics, odd objects, carries, sleds, longer conditioning pieces, and plenty of workouts where you have absolutely no idea what’s coming until you walk through the door.
The goal isn’t to recreate old workouts for the sake of nostalgia. It’s to bring back the programming philosophy that made CrossFit so effective: constantly varied training that prepares you for anything.
We’ll also have opportunities throughout the month to establish percentages on our major lifts before rolling into our Fall Strength Cycle.
Whether you’ve been doing CrossFit for 15 years or you’re only a few months in, I think this is going to be a really fun month of training.

Summer Social 2026
What a day!
Thanks to everyone who came out and made this year’s Summer Social another great one. It’s always awesome getting everyone together outside the gym to hang out, catch up, and celebrate another great summer.
A huge thank you to Mandrake Rooftop for hosting us for the third year in a row. The rooftop in the middle of the city has become one of our favorite traditions.
Congratulations to Ingrid Bedell and Joshua Martinez , our 2026 Summer Shred Champions! The hard work over the last few months definitely paid off.
One of my favorite parts of the afternoon was seeing so many new members at their first gym social. Our community keeps growing, and it’s fun watching new friendships form outside of class.
And thank you to Bridgett | Traveling Photographer for knocking it out of the park with the photos as always!
We’ll do it all again this fall at The Bar at Echo Spirits Spirits in October. Stay tuned!

You don’t have to feel motivated.
You just have to walk through the door.
We’ll take it from there.

People always ask what makes a gym different.
Is it the equipment? The building? The square footage?
Those things matter. We’ve spent years filling this place with great tools—Rogue equipment, Woodway treadmills, now new HYROX gear, platforms, racks, sleds, and more.
But if I’m being honest, theres alot of places that have all that stuff now.
There are a lot of beautiful gyms out there now. Functional fitness has won. The entire industry has borrowed ideas from CrossFit. Most gyms today have barbells, rigs, and equipment built to really train with.
And that’s awesome.
But every once in a while I’ll walk into a place that has everything... except energy.
People moving, but not really training.
Working out, but not really pursuing anything.
Everyone doing their own thing, but nobody really being part of anything.
That’s what I’ve learned after nearly two decades in this industry.
The equipment can lead people in the door.
The people are what change their lives.
A great coach.
The training partners.
A community that notices when you’re gone.
A group of people all chasing improvement together.
That’s the stuff that can’t be ordered from a catalog.
That’s the stuff that makes a gym feel alive.

You’ll see Derick coaching classes, working with athletes one-on-one, and providing personalized programming throughout the gym.
We’re incredibly excited to have Derick on the team and can’t wait for our community to learn from one of the best.
Welcome to the next chapter, Derick.
