As we approach the 2026 Midterm Elections in November, we want to inform our members of the roles and responsibilities of members of the State of Ohio Government.

The Secretary of State is the Chief Election Officer for Ohio and oversees all election functions across Ohio's 88 counties. For example, they train poll workers, supervise and enforce election laws, and review referendums and initiatives.

While well known for election oversight, the Secretary of State also approves articles of incorporation for new Ohio businesses, as well as corporate amendments, mergers, consolidations, and dissolutions. They are also responsible for receiving paperwork pertaining to filing trademarks and fictitious names.
