The Chevrolet Detroit Grand Prix presented by Lear returns to its roots on the Streets of Downtown Detroit with three days of world-class racing, entertainment, parties and family fun along the Detroit Riverfront, June 2-4, 2023. The Grand Prix makes its return to the Downtown streets for the first time since 1991 with a three-day festival that will provide great access and excitement for fans of all ages. More than half of the Grand Prix venue will be open and accessible for free all weekend long, including key fan activation areas in Hart Plaza, Spirit Plaza and along the Riverwalk. On track, the racing will be intense on the unique nine-turn, 1.7-mile street circuit featuring the NTT INDYCAR SERIES in the Chevrolet INDYCAR Grand Prix, the IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge competing in the Chevrolet Sports Car Classic and races on both Saturday and Sunday from INDY NXT by Firestone and the Trans Am Series presented by Pirelli. What a finish at the Brickyard! 🏁

A late-race charge and decisive pass on Earl Bamber in the No. 31 Action Express Racing Cadillac V-Series.R with just over five minutes remaining delivered victory for Sheldon van der Linde, Dries Vanthoor and BMW M Team WRT in today’s IMSA Battle on the Bricks at Indianapolis Motor Speedway. The win marked the second IMSA GTP victory for the BMW M Hybrid V8 at Indianapolis and sets the stage for a championship showdown at Petit Le Mans at Road Atlanta on Oct. 3.

The energy and excitement of racing on the Streets of Downtown Detroit that we feel today was certainly reflected in the Official 1990 Grand Prix poster design. Through the work of artists Stephen Magsig and Troszak, the design commemorating the ninth Grand Prix event in the Motor City featured INDYCAR racing along the Detroit Riverfront against the backdrop of the city skyline.

TBT 1996: Michael Andretti produced his first career win on Belle Isle and second victory overall in the Motor City with a triumph in the 1996 Detroit Grand Prix. After a rain-soaked start gave way to sunshine, Andretti made a late pass on Newman/Haas Racing teammate Christian Fittipaldi with just seven laps remaining and held on for the win.
